Taylor Swift will soon be able to raise a toast to her real friends with a cocktail named after one of her songs, with Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes unveiling a new drink called The Alchemy on the drink menu for their future restaurant, 1587 Prime.
In a video posted to the steakhouse’s Instagram on Thursday (Aug. 28), the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and quarterback taste-test one of the beverages their customers will be able to order once 1587 Prime opens its doors on Sept. 17. As the two football players sit at a white-clothed table, one of their colleagues serves up a pale-colored drink topped with flower buds wrapped in a fruit peel.
“This is The Alchemy,” the colleague says as Kelce says approvingly, “Oh yeah, let’s see it.”
The caption reads, “The cocktails you won’t stop talking about — and for good reason.”
It’s not hard to guess where the Ohio native and his teammate got the inspiration for the name of the new recipe. “The Alchemy” is the title of one of Swift’s love songs on 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, and fans have long believed that the pop star wrote it about her now-fiancé. (With lyrics such as, “Touchdown, call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team … Where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me,” how could you not?)
The drink is one of several aspects Kelce and Mahomes have teased about their new venture on social media ahead of opening day. On Instagram, the athletes have given future diners looks at the cuts of meat and luxurious, football-inspired decor they’re going to have at the location in Kansas City.
“A contemporary steakhouse from NFL legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, created in partnership with Noble 33 and infused with the spirit of Kansas City,” reads a description of the restaurant on its website.
Ahead of their business opening, Kelce and Mahomes also stepped out Thursday to watch the Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers football game. At the tight end’s side was Swift, wearing her sparkly new diamond ring in public for the first time since the couple announced their engagement on Tuesday (Aug. 26).
