Forget Liam Neeson, Kate Beckinsale Is the Action Hero Parent to Root for in Intense Trailer for New Thriller

Thanks to the no-nonsense action thriller classic, Taken, Liam Neeson will be forever known as the world’s greatest action hero dad. But there’s still a space open for the greatest action hero mum, and Underworld franchise star Kate Beckinsale is clearly eager to take that particular title based on the intense new trailer for her upcoming action thriller outing.

Titled Stolen Girl, and directed by James Kent (Testament of Youth, Lost Boys & Fairies) from a script written by Kas Graham and Rebecca Pollock, and with Scott Eastwood (the Fast & Furious franchise, The Outpost), Jordan Duvigneau (Homeland), Matt Craven (Justified: City Primeval), and Arvin Kananian (Triangle of Sadness) making up the supporting cast, the thriller tells the unbelievable true story of a mother’s relentless quest to rescue her kidnapped daughter. A quest that plunges her into the dark world of covert operations and betrayal.

Set for release on September 26, 2025, Stolen Girl promises to deliver in both the action and drama departments as Kate Beckinsale does whatever it takes to save her daughter and take her place alongside Neeson as one of the greatest action hero parents. Alongside the trailer, which you can watch below, you can also check out the official synopsis for Stolen Girl

“Based on extraordinary real-life events, Stolen Girl follows a determined mother, Mara (Kate Beckinsale), whose world is shattered when her ex-husband, Karim, abducts their young daughter, Amina, and flees to the Middle East. Desperate to bring her child home, Mara teams up with Robeson (Scott Eastwood), an enigmatic ex-marine and child abduction specialist. Their mission takes them to Beirut, where they’re pulled into a treacherous web of international espionage, betrayal, and corruption. As time runs out, Mara faces the hardest choice of her life—reclaiming her daughter or leaving her behind for her own safety.”

Kate Beckinsale Has More Kid-Saving Action on the Horizon

And, to cement her eagerness to become action cinema’s best mum, Stolen Girl is not the only thriller on the actor’s horizon that pits her against enemies to save her kid. Beckinsale will join forces with Mortal Kombat’s Lewis Tan for director James Nunn’s (One Shot, One More Shot) Lioness, which will reportedly follow “an ex-black ops team who reunite to pull off a desperate heist to save the life of their leader’s (Beckinsale) eight-year-old daughter.”

Kate Beckinsale is certainly no stranger to action movie fare, having led the Underworld franchise, as well as starring in Total Recall, Van Helsing, and Jolt. The actress recently sprung back into action in last year’s action thriller Canary Black, which hails from the director behind Taken, Pierre Morel. Canary Black is now available to stream on Prime Video, and follows a top CIA operative, Avery Graves, who is blackmailed by terrorists into betraying her own country to save her kidnapped husband. Cut off from her team, she turns to her underworld contacts to survive and help locate the coveted intelligence that the kidnappers want.
