Stephen King’s Best Film in Years Will Return to Theaters for One-Night Only

One of Stephen King‘s best movies in recent history will return to theaters for a one-night event this October. Mike Flanagan’s astonishing adaptation of The Life of Chuck will be shown in select theaters next Wednesday, October 1, giving fans of the author one more chance to see the film on the big screen. Trust us when we say this non-horror movie is worth the trip to your nearest movie theater.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the film starring MCU icon Tom Hiddleston is set to return to theaters for one night only next week. Tickets are already available for purchase, and the “film will be screened in Dolby at AMC theaters and in RPX at Regal locations.” The shows will also feature an in-depth conversation with Mike Flanagan and star Mark Hamill, as they discuss the process behind the scenes, and the impact that The Life of Chuck had on modern audiences. The screenings will coincide with the release of the film on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 30 via Neon.

Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (the critics’ score sits at 81%), The Life of Chuck premiered in select theaters in June 2025. The reception by critics was positive, with many calling it the best Stephen King film in years. Some took the praise a bit further, and called it the best King adaptation ever made. The Rotten Tomatoes synopsis reads as follows:

In this extraordinary story of an ordinary man, Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz experiences the wonder of love, the heartbreak of loss, and the multitudes contained in all of us.

The Life of Chuck features a star-studded cast with Hiddleston in the lead. Joining him are Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, Mia Sara, Kate Siegel, Annalise Basso, Carl Lumbly, Jacob Tremblay, Benjamin Pajak, Taylor Gordon, Matthew Lillard, and David Dastmalchian, among many others. If it’s not the best Stephen King movie ever made, it’s easily the one with the best cast.

Those announced at some point, with some actually being developed in secrecy, include Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Carrie and The Dark Tower. JT Mollner (The Long Walk‘s screenwriter) is set to adapt The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. Doug Liman, the filmmaker behind The Bourne Identity, will adapt a modern feature film version of The Stand. Cujo is also set to receive a modern remake, which is produced by Netflix.

Although there are rumors about other adaptations, these are the ones that have been publicly announced. In case of any updates or new announcements, we’ll let you know. But for now, there are plenty of upcoming adaptations from the vast world of Stephen King.
