The tiny island nation of Malta is home to the European capital with the highest temperatures in October, Valetta. This small country, home to just half a million people, is located between Sicily and the North African coast. It is known for its crystal clear waters, stunning Mediterranean architecture, and delicious food. Malta is a favourite for tourists who have been there, and it boasts some amazing weather for an October escape to the sun.
The capital of Malta, Valetta, experienced temperatures of around 25C in October, according to travel platform Omio, which examined weather data for all European capitals.
It then ranked them based on which ones had the highest temperatures in October, with Valetta coming out on top.
Valetta is home to several top-rated tourist attractions, including St John’s Co-Cathedral, Lascaris War Rooms and Upper Barakka Gardens.
But if you are looking for a sun holiday, there are plenty of relaxing ways to experience the sunshine and hot temperatures. A slew of beaches are dotted across both islands of Malta.
Some of the top-rated coastal spots in Malta include Mellieha Beach, Blue Lagoon, St Peter’s Pool, Ramla Bay, Golden Bay, and Ghar Lapsi.
Meanwhile, there are also some stunning beach clubs, as well as luxury hotels with outdoor pools to enjoy. In addition to the sun and the above-mentioned tourist attractions in Valetta, other things to check out in Malta include the Madina Old City, Popeye Village, The Citadel and the National War Museum.
Flights to Malta take around three hours from the UK. Routes between Britain and Malta are operated by easyJet, Jet2, British Airways and Ryanair. Tourists can depart from London, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle.
