Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen loves to stir up the drama. And he did just that on a recent episode with actress Allison Williams. Allison was on the show to promote her new film, Regretting You, which is a movie adaptation of a book by Colleen Hoover. Naturally, Andy had to get a dig in at Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni and their legal drama surrounding their Colleen Hoover movie adaptation, It Ends With Us. And let’s just say it was pretty awkward.
For those who don’t know, Justin and Blake have been in a legal battle since their movie It Ends With Us came out. Blake had accused Justin, who is the actor and director of the film, of sexual harassment on set. She alleged he improvised unwanted kissing and a smear campaign against her.
Justin denied all claims and then filed a $400 million countersuit. Justin’s former agent, Danny Greenberg, called Blake’s behavior “extortion” to allegedly “gain control of the film.” Needless to say, this is a very tense situation.
So, when Andy threw in a joke about Justin and Blake to Allison, it went as well as you could possibly imagine. DECIDER reported what went down during the debacle.
Andy had asked Allison if she had actually read the book Regretting You. And like any good actor doing research on their role, Allison noted she had read it several times over.
She said, “Yes, I did a couple of times. It’s intimidating because everyone pictures something very specific when they read a book. And then you’re like, ‘We’re gonna decide.’ It’s a lot.”
Then Andy got his dig in. He said, “No one pictured Justin Baldoni and what’s-her-name when they read that book.” Apparently, Justin had claimed that Blake had never read it before filming.
Andy added, “Anyway, love bringing that up.” The cringe factor was high, but Allison kept it neutral. She awkwardly joked, “I love you bringing it up.”
