Brittany Cartwright Admits Special Forces Shouting Was Triggering After Jax Taylor Relationship

The dust has settled from the Season 4 premiere of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, where Brittany Cartwright called it quits during the first challenge. Although Brit said she felt “embarrassed,” at the time, she’s coming out on the other end of it. During a recent interview, she reflected on the experience and how all of the screaming from the coaches felt triggering after her volatile relationship with Jax Taylor.

Brittany Cartwright is “proud” despite quitting Special Forces

During Season 4 Episode 1 of Special Forces, Brittany called it quits after exhausting herself in the first challenge. Obviously, that didn’t feel great, but Brittany explained during a recent edition of Housewives Nightcap how she still felt “proud” for conquering one of her biggest fears and going so far out of her comfort zone.

“Heights terrify me, and I conquered one of my biggest fears,” she said. “I jumped out of a helicopter.”

She continued, “I was very proud of myself. I don’t think people understand, when something is your biggest fear and you have to do it, you feel so proud of yourself.”

Although Brittany said she didn’t want to leave first, she knows she made the right call. She said that the way the coaches were screaming at her wound up having a “reverse effect” on her, after years of dealing with Jax’s rage issues.

“I went into this in a very tough time of my life,” Brittany confessed, adding that she wasn’t “physically prepared.”

She continued, “I had never been away from my son that long, and also, after coming out of a toxic relationship, I thought I would be able to handle the comments.”

Of course, Brittany knew that the drill sergeants were going to yell at her. She watched the show and thought she would be able to handle it better than the rest of her competitors. However, once she got there, it wound up feeling more triggering than helpful.

She explained, “Instead of motivating me, it really triggered me. So whenever they’re screaming at me like, ‘You’re weak, you’re that,’ I was more like, ‘I know I am.’”

Ultimately, Brit doesn’t have regrets about how she left the show. She said she was missing her son, feeling triggered, and all of that running didn’t help either. Brit collected her check and got on the first flight back to Los Angeles.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs on Fox on Thursdays at 9/8c.
