Omarion Horne killed Cincinnati woman Rachel Counts in ‘game’ of Russian Roulette

“On October 5, 2025, at approximately 10:45 PM, District Four officers were dispatched to Kings Run Court for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The Cincinnati Fire Department responded and attempted life-saving measures but determined the victim was deceased,” Cincinnati Police said.

“The decedent has been identified as Ms. Rachel Counts, a female, 23 years of age,” the police said.

Horne was charged with murder.

“On October 6, 2025, the Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit, with assistance from District Four officers arrested and charged Mr. Omarion Horne, a male, 23 years of age, with Murder,” Police said.

Horne was arraigned in Ohio State Court.

He is being held on $1 million bond.

The New York Post reported:

When first responders arrived at a home in the Winston Hills section of Cincinnati, they found Counts suffering from a gunshot wound, according to CBS News.

Cincinnati firefighters attempted to resuscitate her, but to no avail. Counts was pronounced dead at the scene.

A subsequent investigation found that Counts was with Horne and their respective partners as the four were playing cards at the home.

At one point, Horne allegedly pulled out his revolver and suggested to his friends that they play “Russian roulette” — a game that entails loading the gun with a single bullet, spinning the cylinder and then pulling the trigger while pointing the weapon at someone.

Horne aimed the gun at his own head, though it is unclear if he pulled the trigger, law enforcement officials said.

Horne is then alleged to have aimed the revolver at Counts’ chest and pulled the trigger, resulting in the discharge of a bullet.

“It’s sad that people use a firearm as a toy, because if these circumstances are true, this is truly a tragedy,” Judge William Mallory said.

“Rachel is survived by her husband: Jarod Brooks of Danville, IN; parents: Bill and Becky Counts of Salem, MO; sister: Mandy Carlson of Springfield, MO; brother: Will Counts and girlfriend Jacki of Springfield, MO; nephews: Memphis and Maleck; grandparents: Ann Dement of Salem, MO and Larry and Jo Ann Counts of Hardy, AR; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends,” Counts’ obituary read.
