In celebration of the launch of the new episode of the ‘Joe & Jada’ podcast, Fat Joe and Jada Kingdom opened the bottle of Ace of Spades never opened before except for monumental occasions as a toast to Jesse Williams and the new Prime Video series titled ‘Hotel Costiera.’ In a somewhat frantic, often humorous video snippet, Williams very much distanced himself from his days as Dr. Jackson Avery on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as he detailed the bare-bones premise of the new show.
Regarding Williams’ character, Daniel Deluca, Williams outlined that he is a former marine who has been kicked out of the military and returning to Italy with no family and no prospects, now having to take up a position in a luxury hotel. And that spells unconventional for the good man’s existence when the owner’s daughter suddenly disappears. “He’s hired to find her,” Williams describes a show of adventure, beautiful European locations, and plenty of action. The actor talked about the international nature of the cast and how fun speaking in Italian on the show was for him. It was a light project, he said, that he had wanted to do after having done some very heavy and serious work in his life.
Whatever the hosts tried to market with their enthusiasm, especially Jada’s wildly enthusiastic rendition of the show’s premise, actually got to the viewers. One viewer perfectly captured the vibe of the segment: “Jada’s description makes you wanna watch the whole season right now.” Insanely positive reception ensued, and many started watching already. “I’m on episode three. It’s good!” remarked another, with one more giving out, “Loved it! I would love to see season 2!”
Some fans already made some comparisons for the show. “Looks and sounds like what the ORIGINAL MAGNUM WAS!!” one remarked, best representing the sort of demographic the show targets-who like a nostalgic action adventure led by a charming hero. Another’s comment simply went, “Jesse really a legend man,” giving credence to Williams’ seamless transition from a long-running medical drama to that of a globe-trotting action hero.
The feedback, however, was a bit split. The comments also allowed insight into some of the more complicated relationships the listeners share with the podcast itself. One user harshly attacked Fat Joe’s interview style: “Joe please learn interview skills right now you are horrrrrrible.” Another had a somewhat lighter but still critical take: “I love Jada so much. He allows me to stomach Fat Joe just to hear him.” Meaning, the show is a platform worth pushing, yet its co-hosts make very different impressions on their audience.

The atmosphere was triumphal, amidst all the critiques. Popping the cork implied “The launch is a success”; the viewers were completely in favor of it. Armed with a fresh premise, a beloved star poking fun at a new kind of role, and the weighty endorsement of a fellow major podcast, ‘Hotel Costiera’ gained a considerable amount of traction among streamers. A chiefly stylish, very light, and very slick adventure has been marshaled, and the show seems to have delivered on all fronts, with fans wanting to see more episodes and perhaps an official season two. The early buzz paves the way for another hit for Jesse Williams.
