‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Will Do Exactly What Fans Want

The loyal fans of Netflix fantasy horror series Stranger Things are drooling with excitement as the premiere of Season 5 gets closer every day. Matt and Ross Duffer, showrunners and creators of the popular series, have previously teased some of the details for the conclusion, but now they’ve revealed that Season 5 will actually do what some fans are eagerly expecting: most of the lingering questions will finally be answered, with no stones left unturned.

The creative duo spoke with Empire magazine recently and shared some key details. Most describe the series’ ending as one emotional ride, with Will Byers actor Noah Schnapp explaining that “What’s sad isn’t leaving the attention and the hype. It’s those real relationships that we’ve formed through working on it for so long.” Caleb McLaughlin, a.k.a. Lucas, added: “I’m not really that upset. I’m just happy that I experienced it. It’s like gold, it’s so rare.”

After four seasons, fans have built a strong connection with numerous characters. Additionally, for almost a decade, we’ve stayed hooked (and some have rewatched the series countless times) trying to solve the many mysteries of the show: What’s the Upside Down? Where did Will Byers go when he was snatched from our world? Will Eddie and Barb return? All questions, and not a single answer. Happily, Ross Duffer told Empire that Season 5 will deliver in this regard:

“We didn’t want to tie everything into a perfect bow, but I think we answer most questions and resolve every arc. It was our intention to write a definitive ending to this story.”

Stranger Things Season 5 premieres on November 26, with the 8-episode run split into three parts. The conclusion to Netflix’s most popular fantasy series will see the Hawkins gang trying to defeat Vecna one more time, as the monster reopens the portal between the small town and the Upside Down. Season 5 will also see the return of the star-studded cast led by Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo, among others.

When describing Season 5, Matt Duffer implies that we’ve seen nothing like it so far. It’s not exactly a secret that the production took more than usual compared to previous seasons, with the Duffers saying it was “the most logistically insane shoot” they’ve ever participated in. “When we pitched it to Netflix, we genuinely thought the scale was going to be about on par with Season 4. But, uh… that turned out to be a lie,” Matt explained when trying to describe Season 5’s scale. The Duffers previously said that the series finale would run for about two hours, but Matt warned: “Episode 4 and Episode 8 are just monsters.”
