Volvo × Sergio Hudson: Redefining Modern Luxury

When two worlds of design—one rooted in Swedish simplicity, the other in American confidence—collide, the result is something quietly spectacular. To celebrate seventy years in the United States, Volvo Cars has joined forces with fashion designer Sergio Hudson to create a limited-edition capsule collection that brings the calm elegance of the Volvo EX90 to the runway.

A Meeting of Craft and Culture

Both Volvo and Hudson share a common birthplace of inspiration: South Carolina. Hudson, who hails from Ridgeway, has built an international reputation for his bold, tailored silhouettes and modern interpretation of power dressing. Volvo, meanwhile, assembles its flagship EX90 SUV in Ridgeville, just outside Charleston. Their partnership feels less like a coincidence and more like an artistic convergence—an intersection of innovation, heritage, and shared values.

The collaboration transforms the materials used inside the electric EX90’s cabin into wearable expressions of modern luxury. It’s fashion born from engineering, where Volvo’s Scandinavian restraint meets Hudson’s refined confidence.

Scandinavian Living, Tailored for the Body

Volvo has long described the EX90’s interior as a “Scandinavian living room,” a sanctuary of natural textures and thoughtful design. Hudson translates that feeling into pieces that move gracefully between the worlds of fashion and automotive artistry.

Crafted from the same responsibly sourced materials found inside the SUV, the collection demonstrates how sustainability and style can coexist beautifully. As Hudson puts it, “I wanted to capture that same feeling of elevated comfort and conscious luxury in pieces that make you feel elegant and confident.”

The Collection: Elevated Comfort, Modern Luxury

The capsule features two core designs that embody Volvo’s philosophy of craftsmanship and purpose.

The Tailored Wool-Blend Car Coat ($1,895) draws inspiration from early driving coats but reimagines them for the modern aesthete. Cut from the same natural wool used in the EX90’s seats, it features Hudson’s sharp tailoring and a generous silhouette for effortless movement. The coat falls mid-thigh—long enough to evoke timeless elegance, yet short enough to ensure freedom behind the wheel.

Complementing the coat is the Nordico in Dawn Belt ($225), a refined accessory crafted from Volvo’s innovative Nordico upholstery. This material, made from bio-attributed PVC and 100% recycled polyester, mirrors the sustainable craftsmanship inside the EX90. The belt’s platinum-inspired buckle bears both the Volvo Cars and Sergio Hudson logos—a subtle nod to the automaker’s 70-year legacy in the U.S.

Style Versatility: From Day to Night

Hudson designed a three-look capsule wardrobe around these statement pieces, proving their adaptability beyond the showroom.

  • Casual Luxury: High-Waist Boot Cut Trouser in lightweight denim for a relaxed yet refined look.

  • Signature Suit Mode: A houndstooth vest and pant combination that embodies sharp sophistication.

  • After-hours Authority: A long-sleeve, paillette-embroidered mini dress for effortless transition into the evening.

Each look underscores Hudson’s commitment to longevity and mindful design, pieces meant not just to be worn but to be lived in.

A Shared Vision, Rooted in South Carolina

To understand Volvo’s design ethos, Hudson spent time inside the Charleston manufacturing plant, observing every detail of the EX90’s creation—from upholstery stitching to the final paint finishes. “I was struck by the intentionality behind every design choice,” he says. “It’s the same approach I take when tailoring a garment.”

Kelly Mason, Head of Communications for Volvo Car Americas, echoes that sentiment. “This collaboration is a celebration of luxurious style and purpose. By joining forces with Sergio Hudson, we’re merging automotive design with a modern vision of fashion that empowers you to feel more confident.”

Redefining How We Dress for the Journey

The Volvo x Sergio Hudson collection is available in limited quantities and made to order in the United States. It launches exclusively online in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. beginning October 20, 2025.

For Volvo Cars, this collaboration represents more than a fashion statement—it’s a continuation of a philosophy. For seventy years, Volvo has redefined what it means to move safely through the world. Now, that principle extends beyond the drive—into how we dress for the journey.
