The very thrilling Fox show, ‘Best Medicine’, starring Abigail Spencer, has been finally declared by the actress along with a hilarious teaser for the January premiere. It seems like the series is going to be the US version of the very popular British program ‘Doc Martin’, which shows a bitter, big-city doctor in an odd little town.

The actress offered a glimpse of her upcoming project and the fans were already thrilled and excited. In the brief video, Spencer’s character, who looks like one of the town folks, has a funny confrontation with the angry doctor played by a nice actor whom fans started to praise immediately. The connection between the characters is established very quickly: she calls him “Doc Martin,” he shortens it just to “Martin,” and she playfully answers with “Doc Martin… Doc, best, actually.” This kind of conversation certainly makes one think about a typical fish-out-of-water comedy where the doctor has claimed that he is “here to work” and does not want to be disturbed with “silly little festivals or gossip,” which is not like “the rest of the people in this town.”
The comments flooded the social media platform with the preview of the show being one of the most talked about topics; the reactions ranged from positive to negative. Anticipation was one of the mixed emotions among the users as one of them congratulated the actress with, “AHHH!!! im so excited to get you back on my screen,” while at the same time he expressed his strong feeling of dismay at the fact that Spencer would not be given a leading TV role. A different user, on the other hand, was ecstatic and said, “So excited for this! Didn’t realize it was already coming in January!” The instant metamorposis from announcement to premiere certainly added to the very positive reaction.
The major part of the conversation was focused on the show’s clear influence. Many viewers quickly associated it with the classic UK series that ran for a long time. One user wrote, “Omg, they’ve made a US remake of Doc Martin?! Great cast!” while another one added, “This looks like American Doc Martin.” The new series is likely to be very well netted because the word-of-mouth from the previous one definitely brings up the point of a broader audience.
In the midst of the confession of love from the fans, one had an anxiety that mirrored the whole network television ordeal nowadays. The user commented, “I hope this does not get canceled, like the other shows you’ve been on.” It is a voicing of a reasonable fear that comes in the current cancellation crisis and unfortunately, the audience that really believes in her success is mostly the one that has to trail her past projects. One of them was the main character whose gratitude resembled the others but was already hinted at in the comparison drawn by one viewer to the Harvey Spectar character: “He has the Harvey Spectar charisma. My second favorite actor.”
The global fandom was also emphasized. One of the congratulatory notes read, “Congratulations on its release, from the other side of the pond,” indicating that Spencer’s endeavors have worldwide footprints. Another fan who was super excited even went so far as to say, “Omg!!!! I love you both so much and can’t wait!!!!! Omg omg omg aaaaa!!!” The response was loud and clear and it pointed to an audience that not only is ready but also very eager to welcome such a new amusing adventure in their lives.
