Batman‘s design in his next appearance includes something that we do not normally see associated with the character, and it helps make this unique version of Bruce Wayne stand out. The Dark Knight is DC‘s most popular character, with several actors playing Batman in live-action and animation over the years. Bruce Wayne’s future includes a wide range of projects.

In live-action, Robert Pattinson will return in The Batman 2, while James Gunn will cast a new actor as Bruce for Batman’s The Brave and the Bold movie in the DCU. In animation, Hamish Linklater will voice the hero again in Batman: Caped Crusader season 2, with a 4-part Knightfall adaptation on the way. Before that, Batman returns in 2025 for a stylized animated series.

DC Has Revealed What Bat-Fam’s Batman Looks Like

Batman’s next project is Bat-Fam, a new animated series that serves as a spinoff to DC’s Merry Little Batman movie from 2023. The show continues the story of Damian Wayne, who became known as Little Batman in the film, and expands to cover an entirely new take on the Bat-Family. That will, of course, lead to a major role for Bruce Wayne.

Batman is the head of the Bat-Family in the animated series, and with the show’s trailer out, we know exactly how he will look. Batman’s suit includes short ears, a long cape, a yellow utility belt, and a yellow oval on his chest with the bat symbol. The costume comes in Batman’s traditional black and grey color scheme. Batman notably has a full beard.

How Bat-Fam’s Batman Compares To Other Versions Of Bruce Wayne?

A character like Batman, who has had several adaptations that include live-action movies and series, as well as animated films and TV shows, has had quite a few looks over the years. The yellow oval on Batman’s chest in Bat-Fam might remind fans of Adam West, Michael Keaton, and Val Kilmer’s versions of Batman.

Batman’s short ears in the animated series might look somewhat like Ben Affleck’s or George Clooney’s. That said, the biggest design difference from this new Dark Knight to other DC adaptations is that Bat-Fam‘s Batman has a full beard. Sure, Affleck in the DCEU, Keaton in The Flash, and Christian Bale in The Dark Knight trilogy all had beards as Bruce Wayne at specific points.

However, those never translated to their Batman personas. Bat-Fam sees Bruce Wayne don a cowl that leaves his chin visible, and Batman will have a full beard while in the suit, which makes this version of the hero look different from other adaptations. It also fits Bat-Fam‘s story, making Bruce Wayne look more like the “dad” stereotype in the Batman series.
