Donald Trump Reportedly Pushing To Revive Rush Hour Franchise

Donald Trump reportedly wants to see Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker reunite for a fourth Rush Hour movie. Sources claim that the President is looking to revive the popular franchise as well as other action films from the 80s and 90s.

Donald Trump wants to revive Rush Hour franchise

Donald Trump is reportedly rallying for the revival of the Rush Hour film series. The President has stood in support of Oracle CTO and centibillionaire Larry Ellison as his family continues its bidding war for acquiring the franchise’s license holder, Warner Bros. Discovery.

One of Trump’s most influential allies, Ellison is a major stakeholder in Paramount Skydance, with his son, David, as the company’s chairman and CEO. As the family gets closer to securing the deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, an insider source has told Semafor that Trump has pressed Ellison to develop a fourth Rush Hour movie.

According to the report, Trump wants to bring back several comedies and action movies from the 80s and 90s. Besides the Rush Hour series, the President is reportedly also passionate about Jean Claude Van Damme’s 1988 martial arts movie, Bloodsport.

The Rush Hour franchise began in 1998 with the release of the first movie directed by Brett Ratner. The movie starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as the leading stars and became a commercial success. It spawned two more installments also helmed by Ratner, with Chan and Tucker reprising their roles.

Talks of a future movie were stalled when Ratner was dropped by Warner Bros. in 2017 following a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him. Since then, the franchise’s fate has remained uncertain despite multiple attempts at revival.

Most recently, Ratner was announced as the director of an upcoming documentary film on First Lady Melania Trump. Whether or not Ratner will return to helm a potential Rush Hour 4 remains to be seen. Leading stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have also not made any comments regarding their return.
