Joy Behar Reveals Her ‘Painful’ Injury on The View

Many viewers have been concerned about Joy Behar as she has been missing from The View for four days. Fortunately, the 83-year-old host appeared on the popular ABC program on Friday, November 14, and explained the injury that forced her to be absent for multiple days. Fellow cohost Whoopi Goldberg shared on Tuesday that Behar was out and would be back on Wednesday, but when she didn’t appear that day, the EGOT-winning actress provided more detail that Behar had hurt her foot and hoped that she would be back soon. While she was also absent on Thursday, Behar did send one of her lasagna dishes to Goldberg in celebration of her 70th birthday.

Behar explains her four-day absence on The View

The View episode on November 14 had a different opening than usual. Instead of the full cast walking out on stage, the broadcast began with Behar and her fellow panelists already sitting at the table. But instead of the shoes she typically wears, she appeared with a more comfortable pair of slides and a bandage on her foot.

“Now, I’ve been off for a few days,” Behar said of her absence. “I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe. And they put the toes together because it’s broken, and it’s very, very painful.”

“I do not recommend you dropping anything on your toes,” she continued. Bringing her right foot to the edge of the table, Behar pointed at the bandage wrapped around her three middle toes.

The recovery time for a broken toe is usually between 4 and 6 weeks, according to Mayo Clinic. So it’s possible that the longtime host will have her toes bandaged for a month and that she will not put more stress on her foot by walking out on stage at the top of the episode.

Last week, Behar was asked by Goldberg about her bra and whether she wears one on air.
