Every New Movie and TV Show Coming To Shudder in January 2026

Shudder is welcoming in the new year with some exceptional scares, as their January 2026 line-up sees a bloody good helping of different genre stand-outs. Whether you are looking for creature features, slashers, supernatural terrors, or something off the beaten path, the horror-centric streaming platform has something here for you. At the same time, Shudder continues to host watch parties, including one for the highly anticipated release of Mother of Flies. And, of course, Joe Bob returns with new episodes of At the Drive-In.

We have outlined our picks for must-watch additions to the Shudder catalog in January 2026. Below that, you will find a complete list of all movies and TV series titles being added to the platform.

‘Marshmallow’ (2025)

Available to Stream January 1st

Timid 12-year-old Morgan, who is haunted by nightmares after a family tragedy, finds himself trying to fit in at a summer camp. It is here that the campfire tale of a man who would come and abduct kids from their bunks leads Morgan to investigate and find out that there may be some truth to the story. With his newfound friends, he tries to escape the camp before an electric wand-wielding figure hunts them down.

A subversive sci-fi slasher that delivers an unforgettable genre-bending experience, Marshmallow is one of the most slept-on horror movies of 2025. Moreover, the movie still captures that nostalgic era when the camp-themed slasher reigned supreme, bringing it into the modern era with polished visuals and atmospheric dread. Those expecting a straightforward slasher may want to avoid this one, but those who love innovation in the genre need to catch this one. Marshmallow is available to stream on Shudder starting January 1, 2026.

‘A Desert’ (2025)

Available to Stream January 1st

Filmmaker Joshua Erkman delivers a stunning neo-noir thriller, A Desert, onto the Shudder platform this January. Here, struggling photographer, Alex Clark (Kai Lennox), falls under the lure of a mysterious and dangerous couple, Renny (Zachary Ray Sherman) and Susie Q (Ashley B. Smith), before going missing. Alex’s wife, Sam (Sarah Lind), and detective Harold Palladino (David Yow) then try to piece together the events leading to his disappearance.

Having premiered in 2024 at the Tribeca Film Festival, before a limited theatrical run and subsequent VOD release, A Desert has built up a subtle reputation among genre fans leading up to its release as a Shudder original. Notably, A Desert has found praise for its mystical views of sun-drenched Americana and free-flowing narrative. At the same time, the film has gotten some polarizing reviews from fans, ensuring it will be a much-talked-about addition; all the more reason to check it out for yourself. A Desert is available to stream on Shudder on January 1, 2026.

‘Beast of War’ (2025)

Available to Stream January 16th

Set in 1942, Beast of War follows a young Australian regiment training for deployment, including an indigenous soldier, Leo (Mark Coles Smith), who finds himself at odds with the other recruits who look down on his heritage. Yet, when the group finally gets deployed, everything is put aside when their ship is attacked, and the survivors have to contend with a great white shark picking them off one by one.

Killer shark movies are a dime a dozen, but when they are done right, they make the best creature features; Beast of War certainly falls under the category. The movie’s wartime setting, soldier camaraderie, and an unrelenting underwater menace make for a highly thrilling entry into the shark-horror subgenre. Those who love some gore will also find the kills here to be a true delight. Beast of War is available to stream on Shudder on January 16, 2026.

‘Mother of Flies’ (2026)

Available to Stream on January 23rd

Mickey (Zelda Adams) confronts her terminal health diagnosis head-on, looking to go beyond traditional medicine by looking to the dark arts. Mickey and her father, Jake (John Adams), head into the woods in search of the mysterious Solveig (Toby Poser), a woman said to have a powerful connection and command over the afterlife. The three begin an exhausting three-day ritual that pushes their bodies and minds to the limit.

Since its trailer debut, Mother of Flies has been generating buzz for its stylish, horrifying blend of folk and supernatural horror. The movie marks the fourth film directed by the Adams Family – Zelda Adams, John Adams, and Toby Poser – with the trio gaining a growing cult following with each film. The film also comes with a community watch party, as part of a double bill with the film Hellbender, the same night as the release of Mother of Flies. Mother of Flies is available to stream on January 23, 2026, on Shudder.
