Stranger Things Wardrobe Mistake Sparks Fan Backlash

A wardrobe inaccuracy in Netflix’s horror period drama, “Stranger Things“, has sparked a flood of criticism from fans. The show is widely known for maintaining its continuity. Fans were quick to catch the slip in episode 7, which shows Nell Fisher’s Holly Wheeler wearing a piece from the brand Under Armour.

Fans react to Stranger Things wardrobe inaccuracy

Viewers of “Stranger Things” noticed a surprising error in the show’s wardrobe in part 2 of season 5. In episode 7, Holly Wheeler can be seen struggling to break free from Vecna’s clutches. While she manages to succeed in her attempt to do that, the tense scene gives fans a short but clear glimpse of her Under Armour undershirt. While the series is set in the 1980s, Under Armour was founded in 1996.

Unimpressed with the show’s failure at maintaining continuity in the final season, fans took to X to express their disappointment. An X user with the handle @photogoblinxx wrote, “Hey what’s this under armour shirt doing on Holly?? Under armour didn’t come out until 1996 #StrangerThings5 @Stranger_Things.”

One user with the handle @ArpitAgar_Aurum wrote, Wait a minute… Holly is wearing Under Armour in 1987?? Brand invented in 1996??” The fan went on to reference the infamous “Game of Thrones” slip-up, which led to a Starbucks cup appearing in season 8 of the acclaimed show. Meanwhile, some fans have speculated that excessive focus on Will Byers’ monologue led to this wardrobe inaccuracy.

An X user with the handle @JonnyRoot voiced this concern in his post. He wrote, “If Stranger Things didn’t spend 24 HOURS in filming/reshoots for Will’s “coming out” scene, they wouldn’t miss Holly Wheeler wearing a company’s shirt that didn’t even exist in the 80s (Under Amour).” He also likened the mistake to the one in “Game of Thrones.” The eighth and final episode of “Stranger Things” will be released on Netflix on December 31.
