Anime is known for having some of the worst worlds a person could inhabit. Whether apocalyptic threats appear far too frequently, like in Dragon Ball, or the population has been sent spiraling into some lawless cyberpunk future, there are a number of anime universes no normal person would ever want to visit, unless they have a death wish.
However, one anime and manga universe is quickly proving itself deadlier than the rest. While Chainsaw Man has been enjoying box office success with its latest Reze Arc movie, the manga side of the story has been putting the Earth through the ringer, and with every passing week the series proves no normal human is suited to survive its devils.
Chainsaw Man’s Current Battle Is a Nightmare
Earth’s Destruction May Be the Only Thing Stopping the Fight Between Denji and Yoru
If Chainsaw Man‘s earliest moments weren’t enough to convince fans that its universe wasn’t very fun, the series’ latest developments surely will be. Random attacks by devils embodying human fears have always been an everyday threat, but thanks to the War Devil’s recent string of power-ups, the world has become far more dangerous.
Yoru has the ability to transform anything she perceives ownership of into weapons for war, and she’s currently fighting a Chainsaw Man who can erase the concepts tied to devils from existence. The logistics of their battle is a nightmare, but not nearly as terrifying as what Yoru appears to be doing next.
Chapter #223, “Ultimate Armor”, ends with the War Devil reaching her hand to the sky, before cutting to a panel of the moon beginning to crack. It appears she plans on transforming the moon into a weapon, only chapters removed from her nuclear punch which set off the power of a nuclear bomb over Tokyo.
Gone are the days of Denji mindlessly running into battle and frantically swinging his chainsaws in the direction of an enemy. Chainsaw Man‘s current battle has put the world at risk of destruction, and if the moon truly disappears from the sky in coming chapters, destruction will be imminent.
Chainsaw Man Is Home to Anime and Manga’s Most Uninhabitable Universe
While Attack on Titan‘s universe may be overly violent, and Dragon Ball‘s world is on the brink of destruction with each new villain’s arrival, no series is quite as dangerous or cruel as that of Chainsaw Man. In a story where devils have the power to reshape reality as they please, safety is simply something that does not exist.
There is no righteous hero to stop the damage. Instead, Chainsaw Man‘s hero might just throw a random civilian at an enemy just to get the upper hand. Now, apocalyptic events are happening with each new chapter released, and the normal person living within the world can do nothing to save themselves.
Chainsaw Man has always been a difficult series when it comes to power scaling, but if Yoru can transform the moon into a weapon with ease, she might just have bragging rights over anime’s deadliest villains. Denji will need to come up with a winning strategy quickly, or there may not be a world left for the series’ hero to save.
