Confirmation, Cast, Plot, and Everything We Know

Taylor Sheridan’s Landman has never been interested in easy heroes or clean victories. From the moment Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris steps into the dust-choked corridors of West Texas oil country, the Paramount+ drama makes its intentions clear. This is a story about compromise, pressure, and the violence of power exercised through contracts and leverage rather than guns.

Across two seasons, Landman has built a world where stability never lasts very long. One where every professional decision carries personal consequences. As Season 2 approaches its January 18, 2026, finale, the series is hitting its stride, stacking power plays, family turmoil, and West Texas grit on top of one another. Fortunately for fans, the future of the show is no longer a question mark.

Landman is officially coming back for Season 3, and here is everything we know so far.

‘Landman’ Season 3 Is Confirmed, But When Will It Arrive?

Paramount+

Paramount+ officially renewed Landman for a third season on December 5, 2025, making the announcement just weeks after Season 2 premiered. The early renewal signaled strong internal confidence in the series and its importance within the platform’s growing Taylor Sheridan-driven lineup. Season 2’s premiere on November 16, 2025, reportedly drew more than 9 million global viewers in its opening weekend, placing it among the streamer’s most successful launches and cementing Landman as a flagship series.

Sheridan’s dramas (Yellowstone, Tulsa King) have proven to be reliable audience magnets, and Landman is now in that league. As for timing, there’s no official release date yet, but filming is expected to begin in spring 2026, according to Sam Elliott, who teased an April–May start.

“I’m excited to see what unfolds in [Landman] Season 3. I mean, we’re talking about Season 2, but that’s backstory for us at this point. We’re all kind of looking toward to April and May when we start shooting season 3.”

Given Sheridan’s packed schedule, fans should anticipate a late 2026 or early 2027 premiere window for Landman Season 3.

The Cast at the Center of ‘Landman’s Season 3

Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore in Landman Paramount+

Billy Bob Thornton remains the gravitational center of Landman, and Season 3 is expected to keep Tommy Norris’ sharp instincts and moral compromises in focus. Thornton’s performance has deepened over Season 2, particularly as Tommy’s authority begins to erode. His firing from M-Tex Oil at the hands of Demi Moore’s Cami Miller is one of the season’s most important turning points because it strips away the last illusion of stability he had.

Moore is expected to return, as Cami’s position moving forward is anything but secure. Ali Larter’s turn as Angela Norris balances family drama with corporate chaos. Michelle Randolph’s Ainsley and Jacob Lofland’s Cooper also remain central, especially after their turbulent Season 2 journeys. Additionally, Andy Garcia’s Gallino and Sam Elliott’s role as Tommy’s father also add emotional gravity to the series, so they are expected to return alongside characters played by Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Colm Feore, and Paulina Chávez.

No major departures have been announced, but reports of a “shocking firing” have stirred speculation about cast shake-ups. Sheridan also has a habit of introducing heavyweight talent mid‑series, so Season 3 could easily bring fresh faces into the oil patch. But the Norris family and their orbit still get the spotlight. Without them, the show loses its pulse.

What the Next Chapter Could Be About

If Season 1 introduced the world and Season 2 tested its fault lines, Season 3 feels poised to deal with consequences. Tommy Norris, now unmoored from M-Tex and stripped of power, faces a crossroads that cuts to the heart of the series. He can try to reclaim relevance within the same system that discarded him, or he can operate outside it, where the rules are bendable and the risks far higher. Meanwhile, Cooper’s reckless choices have left him in dangerous territory after a violent club fight, and Angela struggles to let Ainsley carve out independence.

Season 3 is almost guaranteed to pick up these threads, mainly because Sheridan never sidelines his protagonists for long. The growing influence of cartel-adjacent players and international money suggests that the oil business in Landman is no longer limited to Texas borders. Season 3 could push further into that direction and explore how global forces collide with environmental risks and corporate greed.

While the series has never lost sight of its emotional core, Sheridan’s inspiration from the Boomtown podcast means realism will stay baked into the narrative. But realism comes with unpredictability, moral ambiguity, and shocking reveals. Season 2 has (so far) been about dismantling power structures, so Season 3 could be about rebuilding them in even more precarious ways.

Why Season 3 Could Be the Biggest Yet

Taylor Sheridan’s hand remains evident in the show’s refusal to rush answers. Landman has never traded spectacle for its own sake. It’s about confrontations and decisions that echo long after they are made. So if the series continues on its current trajectory, Landman Season 3 may well be its most uncompromising chapter yet. Not because it might change what the show is, but because it might finally force its characters to live with everything they have set in motion.
