Meghan Trainor is once again distancing herself from the so-called “toxic mom group” drama that erupted after Ashley Tisdale published a viral personal essay for The Cut. On Monday, January 12, Meghan Trainor shared a tongue-in-cheek TikTok using audio from season five of Stranger Things, in which a character desperately tries to convince others that a monster is real.
Over the clip, Trainor wrote, “Me still trying to convince everyone I’m not involved in the mom group drama,” adding in the caption, “I swear I’m innocent.” The video marked Trainor’s second public reaction to the controversy.
Just days earlier, on January 8, she posted another TikTok poking fun at how she learned about the situation. That clip showed her sitting at a computer, wide-eyed and animated, as if reading breaking news. She captioned it, “Me finding out about the apparent mom group drama,” and set it to her new single, “Still Don’t Care,” from her upcoming album Toy with Me, due out April 24.
Trainor has been rumored to be part of Tisdale’s former inner circle, though she has never confirmed her involvement. Her recent posts appear to be aimed at shutting down assumptions.
Trainor’s husband, Daryl Sabara, also addressed the situation directly. Speaking to TMZ, Sabara denied any feud between his wife and Tisdale, emphasizing that their focus remains on raising their two children, Barry, 2, and Riley, 4. “No drama over here, just trying to keep the kids happy, you know?” Sabara said.
In her piece, Tisdale kept her former friends anonymous and framed her decision to leave the group as empowering. “If a mom group consistently leaves you feeling hurt, drained or left out, it’s not the mom group for you,” she wrote. “Choosing to step away doesn’t make you mean or judgmental. It makes you honest with yourself. It’s also worth remembering that friendships, like all relationships, have seasons.”
