Oasis’ Noel Gallagher Addresses ‘Bond 26’ Rumors

The 26th movie in the James Bond franchise would be right up Noel Gallagher’s alley if a soundtrack offer came in. The songwriter and co-frontman of the British rock band Oasis, who reunited after 15 years in 2024 to embark on a world tour, recently dialed in to TalkSport Radio for a chat with presenter Andy Goldstein, and rumors about Oasis’ 007 connection were raised.

“If Barbara Broccoli phoned you up and said, ‘Can you do it?’ What would you do?” asked Goldstein, which led Gallagher to quip, “I’d say, ‘All right, Babs.’

“Of course, it would be an absolute honor. I think those kinds of things should be done by Brits and not Yanks.”

Flat-out asked whether Oasis had been approached to cover the Bond 26 song duties, Gallagher said: “No, no, no.” Adding fuel to the fire was Gallagher’s brother and bandmate Liam, who tweeted last month: “It’s happening you wait till you hear it it’s the best BOND tune ever.”

Meanwhile, screenwriter Steven Knight has provided cryptic insight into the next espionage thriller to feature Ian Fleming’s suave secret agent. Taking part in the Radio Times Writers’ Room interview series, the Peaky Blinders creator said he’s having a “fantastic time” penning Bond 26, even though he “can’t say anything about it.” Such is the level of hush-hush around the Amazon MGM Studios project, he refused to even name his favorite Bond movie.

“Well, I don’t want to give that answer, because it will suggest that I’m going in a particular direction.

“Obviously with Bond, what you’re dealing with is now a character of folklore, really. It’s like Robin Hood or King Arthur, in the context of the culture of this country and beyond. And so you’ve got to treat it with respect.”

Knight, who is also the brains behind the Disney+ series A Thousand Blows, previously told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: “It has always been on my bucket list and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it — I can’t wait to get started. I’m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that’s the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder.”

Addressing the high-pressure selection process for director Denis Villeneuve’s franchise reboot, the 66-year-old went on to reveal that it was characterized by meeting after meeting. “I was invited to a meeting with [producer] Amy Pascal, didn’t know what it was about, and very quickly discovered what it was about and became very, very excited and hopeful. And then a process is followed where you do some meetings, you discuss some ideas, and then you find out you’ve got it.”

Fans can expect an official casting announcement from Amazon MGM very soon — perhaps confirming reports that Masters of the Air star Callum Turner has been “blabbing all over town” about his imminent tuxedo fitting.
