The beautiful islands just 4 hours from UK where you’re guaranteed 22C in February | Europe | Travel

The Canary Islands are a year-round holiday hotspot, but particularly at this time of year. A Spanish archipelago, but located off Africa’s northwestern coast, its seven main islands are known for their year-round warm climates, diverse beaches and volcanic landscapes. Of the islands, four prove to be the most popular among Brits, and with good reason. These are Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

Last year, Tenerife led the way with an incredible 7.3 million visitors, followed by 4 million in Gran Canaria and 3.4 million in Lanzarote. Meanwhile, Fuerteventura, despite being the second-largest of the Canary Islands, welcomed only 2.5 million tourists. Primarily known for its white-sand beaches and year-round warmth, Fuerteventura boasts an impressive 189 miles of coastline and is a popular destination for watersport enthusiasts.

February in Fuerteventura offers mild, pleasant weather, perfect for escaping winter, with average daytime highs around 21-22C and six to seven hours of sunshine with little rain.

According to Skyscanner, February is one of the cheapest months to fly to Fuerteventura (FUE). Brits can fly direct from the UK, from airports like Gatwick and Luton, with easyJet for as little as £42 return next month, with a flight time of just four hours and 20 minutes.

Tenerife is another stunning island reaching 21C in February, with white sand beaches and picturesque backdrops. Ryanair operates flights to Tenerife South from several UK airports. The southern part of the island tends to be warmer than the north.

There are £25 one-way fares from London Stansted to Tenerife South available on various dates in February, with midweek flights being slightly cheaper.

Gran Canaria, another popular destination with a climate similar to Tenerife, is expected to reach up to 22C in February. There are plenty of deals available from both London and regional airports, with budget-friendly flights throughout January.

Bristol to Gran Canaria flights are currently priced from £25.81 one way, while departures from London Luton Airport start at just £24.99.

Lanzarote, another favourite among winter sun chasers, is forecast to reach daytime highs of 21C next month. If you’re craving some sunshine, there are £24.99 one-way fares available from London Stansted, Bournemouth, Manchester, and other regional airports.

The south and east coasts of Lanzarote are particularly popular, largely due to their close proximity to the airport and milder weather. Playa Blanca is an excellent choice for a February stay, boasting a long sandy beach with typically calm seas, a high-end marina area with restaurants, and a shopping centre.
