TV fans can stay in the iconic Gavin and Stacey house | UK | Travel

This residence has become a national treasure in Wales, having featured in every season of the much-loved television series Gavin and Stacey. Now, fans of the show have the opportunity to experience it firsthand.

Affectionately known as the ‘Lush House’, visitors can now book a stay in the South Wales home that was Dorris’s abode in the series. Located on Trinity Street in the heart of Barry, this iconic red-brick terraced house served as a filming location for the show over the years.

It even evolved into the central family home in the concluding episodes, making it particularly special to fans. Those eager to immerse themselves in the real-life setting of the show can now do so with a minimum booking of two nights.

Since its television debut, the house has undergone some refurbishments, including a fresh coat of paint and modern upgrades for the comfort of its guests. This slice of British television history is fully equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay, all while basking in the knowledge that TV royalty once occupied these very rooms.

The property can accommodate up to five guests, making it an ideal choice for a group holiday to the seaside, with opportunities to explore other locations featured in Gavin and Stacey. In terms of sleeping arrangements, there are two snug bedrooms: one with a double bed, reminiscent of the favourite couple’s room, and another featuring two twin beds in a bunk format, perfect for younger guests.

The main living areas downstairs are equipped with a TV and Wi-Fi, allowing guests to binge-watch their favourite episodes at leisure. An electric fire ensures the place remains cosy throughout the year.

It’s worth noting that the property also features a dishwasher for convenience and a washing machine for those planning an extended stay. Additionally, there is a quaint garden patio area for outdoor relaxation.

Beyond the confines of the home, Barry offers a wealth of attractions right on your doorstep. Roadside parking makes it easy to jump in the car and explore, just like your favourite TV family.

Immerse yourself in the quintessential British seaside experience at the renowned Barry Island promenade, complete with arcades and fish and chip shops. You could even drop by the much-loved Marco’s Café or try your luck at the slot machines where Nessa once worked, the site of some of the show’s most hilarious scenes.

Aside from the Gavin and Stacey highlights, the area boasts a plethora of attractions for families, including the lively Barry Island Pleasure Park.

For those eager to embrace nature, Porthkerry Country Park offers stunning woodland walks with breathtaking views of the Bristol Channel.

You can secure a minimum of two nights’ stay in the Lush House starting from approximately £472, though prices fluctuate during the summer season. Reservations can be made online through Sykes Cottages.
