While Reacher is one of the most popular Amazon Prime Video series, the upcoming thriller 56 Days might be an even bigger conversation starter this year. Winter isn’t over yet, which means shoveling and continually asking how many days are left until summer. It also means finding some fun shows to make the time go faster. Thankfully, there’s a new Prime show coming out in February that you’ll want to watch quickly… and then tell all your friends about.
Along with the adaptation of the Patricia Cornwell book series Scarpetta, 56 Days will arrive on Prime soon, and it sounds creepy, haunting, and most of all, steamy. Thriller fans who have raced through their list of shows to watch, from Harlan Coben’s Netflix and Prime series to older releases they haven’t gotten around to yet, will want to hear about this series.
Why You Can’t Miss ’56 Days’ on Amazon Prime Video
56 Days will premiere on Feb. 18th, 2026, and is adapted from the novel by Catherine Howard Ryan, which was published in 2021. It’s one of the most interesting upcoming TV adaptations because the story is definitely well-suited to the narrative structure of TV. The series stars Dove Cameron and Avan Jorgia as a couple named Ciara Wise and Oliver Kennedy. The two meet cute in Dublin, Ireland, fall for each other, and then see their lives take a strange turn when someone is murdered. While a movie adaptation could have been great, it’s hard to argue with the fact that it’ll be particularly fascinating to watch Ciara and Oliver figure out what’s going on over Season 1’s eight episodes.
Sure, romantic dramas are a dime a dozen, so 56 Days already stands out since it’s an erotic thriller. But this subgenre can’t only be about sex. There also has to be a compelling story and well-written characters. Heated Rivalry is such a fantastic series because it balances sex scenes with emotion and significant themes. You’re immediately sympathetic toward Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie) and want the best for them. It may be a sports drama, not a thriller full of twists and turns, but there are some surprising moments (particularly near the end of Season 1) that make you want to keep tuning in.
From the trailer, and the engaging novel that it’s based on, 56 Days seems like it will be the perfect blend of steamy moments and strong storytelling. Like the popular Netflix thrillers His & Hers and The Hunting Wives, 56 Days is equal parts romance and murder mystery. The trailer hints that this isn’t the healthiest relationship, as one character says, “Because whoever he is, he’s not good for you.” Then, later on, another character advises Ciara that “He’s not who you think he is.” (Now we really need to know what’s going on.)
Most of all, though, there’s one element of 56 Days that is actually relatable, and that’s the fact that it’s set during the COVID-19 pandemic. Viewers will (hopefully) never find themselves in the terrifying situation that Ciara and Oliver are in… but we can all understand the sadness, fear, and anxiety of this time period. And, while watching TV shows and movies set during the pandemic isn’t exactly anyone’s idea of a good time, 56 Days is more focused on thriller tropes like potential suspects and big reveals than a devastating dive into 2020.
So, while fans are expecting to watch Reacher Season 4 in 2026, 56 Days might be an even more thrilling Prime Video show. Just a few more weeks, and viewers can tune into Ciara and Oliver’s story.
