In keeping with the grand tradition of making games free on Steam seemingly at random, yet another developer has decided to give one of their games away for a very limited time. There are a huge amount of free games available on Steam, so it’s not always easy to work out which ones are actually worth your time, but this one looks like a great little hidden gem.
Let me be clear, too: this particular game is 100% free to download and keep. Often, Steam will make games free for a limited time, but you don’t get to keep them. As long as you claim this game before 6pm on February 9, you’re absolutely golden.
Magellania Is 100% Free Right Now
Go ahead and grab it while you can
Developed and published by Illunsoft, Magellania is a 2021 indie RPG that probably passed you right by when it originally released. Clearly, it didn’t exactly bring in huge player numbers, but those who have played it appear to have only good things to say. Of the 30 or so reviews, 100% of them are positive.
Magellania is described as a “hardcore tactics-RPG set in outer space.” You can find some of the features promised in the game below.
- Travel the Solar System reimagined in a new light. Visit planets and collect CDs to change the BGM for certain scenarios.
- Assemble a team from a diverse selection of classes. Defeat enemy factions to unlock their color palettes for recruitment.
- Experiment with different badge effects and varying setups.
- Aggressive turn-based combat featuring a damage-boosting combo system and action commands.
- Most of the game’s badge drops are randomized. The main campaign can be played multiple times with different team comps and badge setups.
- Take on the extensive post-game after the main campaign.
There Are Loads Of Freebies On Steam
This not for you? No problem
If this charming indie curio doesn’t do it for you, there are a ridiculous amount of free games on Steam, so I’m sure something will be to your tastes. Currently, there’s a brilliant deckbuilder called Hellcard being offered for free, but I should stress this one is free to play for a set period and not free to keep forever.
If you’re looking for something that’s free to download and keep forever with no strings attached? Well, Steam still has an embarrassment of riches in that department, so dive in and see what takes your interest.
