A year after Charlie Cox’s Daredevil got his first Marvel Studios-produced solo series, he’s back in action for a second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Cox returns alongside Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and other MCU veterans, picking up almost directly where things ended at the end of 2025’s Season 1. This time around, Matt’s on the run from Mayor Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force after Fisk imposed martial law over New York City, putting Daredevil and anybody who stands by his side in danger.
After only getting one in-person meeting last season’s opening episode, fans expect to see much more from the Daredevil/Kingpin rivalry in Season 2. Should they finally get into another hand-to-hand fight, it would mark their first since the final episode of Daredevil Season 3 on Netflix in 2018. However, no matter what specifically happens between them, the stage is set for their rivalry to reach new heights, including much more drama this time around.
Speaking exclusively with MovieWeb, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane and executive producer Sana Amanat touched on the Daredevil/Kingpin relationship in Season 2. Asked about how both characters become more similar than they’d like to admit this season, Scardapane agreed completely:
“Absolutely, and I think that both of them rise to the level of symbols. You have the mayor of New York and his administration. You have Daredevil as the symbol of the resistance. And when you get to that point, affecting change, battling each other, continuing the fight, they really start creeping closer and closer to a moment that happens where they really, for lack of a better term, they see each other, and what they see is more of a reflection than either one would want to admit.
Amanat also commented on how fun it’s been to highlight that specific nature of their conflict. In the end, Murdock and Fisk are permanently connected to one another, and it continues to show when the city is engulfed in chaos:
“I think we discovered that in Season 1, it [was] actually really fun to play with the similarities and juxtapose them side-by-side and tell that story, and the fact that they’re forever drawn, for better or worse, forever drawn to one another.”
Since Daredevil Season 1 on Netflix, this story has consistently shown how deeply interconnected Murdock and Fisk are, despite standing on opposite sides of the fight. Arguably, no hero/villain pairing in the MCU has this level of connection, as Fisk’s actions in New York City stand so perfectly opposite of Murdock’s that they can’t help but overlap.
The parallels between Daredevil and Kingpin have become undeniable over their decade of onscreen antagonism, especially considering how dedicated they each are to their causes. Looking ahead to Season 2, the stage is set for their most intense and dramatic confrontation to date, especially with Kingpin so focused on hunting Daredevil down.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will begin streaming on Disney+ on Mar. 24, 2026.
