Following years of reports and rumors, HBO revealed the first official look at the new streaming reboot of the Harry Potter saga with the reveal of the show’s first trailer on Mar. 25, 2026. Utilizing new music, sets, and actors to tell a version of this story not seen in the original movies, fans got their first look yet at the actors who will take over the saga that was originally led by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. Largely centered on the new young talent, the trailer teased Harry’s evolution into a wizard before meeting new friends and diving into a world full of magic and danger.
Considering it has only been 15 years since the original movie saga ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 in theaters (July 2011), fans had questions about just how big a hit this show could be, all things considered. As it turns out, even considering the controversy surrounding original book author J.K. Rowling (who is also an executive producer on this series), nothing can slow the Hogwarts Express down.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first trailer for HBO’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone became the most-watched first trailer for any program in HBO and HBO Max history. Released on Mar. 25, the trailer garnered more than 277 million organic views across all platforms during its first 48 hours online. Using the original U.K. title for the first Harry Potter book and a new score composed by Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Anže Rozman, the trailer delivered a fresh look at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, largely fousing on new cast members like Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), and Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger).
More to come…
