Jonathan Majors’ Daily Wire Action Thriller Comeback Gets ‘Red Dawn’-Style Plot

Disgraced MCU star Jonathan Majors now is hoping to forge a comeback using action thrillers, with the actor now having a trio of them in the works. The latest to be announced will see the Loki star team up with known right-wing media company The Daily Wire for a currently untitled action thriller that has just revealed its supporting cast and an eye-rollingly predictable plot.

Jonathan Majors saw his star rise rapidly thanks to his leading role in the HBO horror series Lovecraft Country. This led to roles in the likes of the all-star Netflix Western The Harder They Fall, the war epic Devotion, the critically acclaimed Magazine Dreams, and the Rocky spin-off sequel Creed III, Majors’ biggest role was as the supervillain Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.

Introduced in the Disney+ series Loki before playing the main multiversal version of the character in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Majors’ Kang was intended to be the primary villain throughout the Multiverse Saga. But the actor saw his star come crashing down just as quickly as it had risen after he was arrested on assault, strangulation, and harassment charges in 2023. The actor was subsequently found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment, accused of abuse by several other women, fired by Marvel, and removed from several other projects and major campaigns, including one for the United States Army.

But the pipeline from “canceled” actor to right-wing ally continues to pump, with Majors set to lead a new action thriller from The Daily Wire. Cameras are now rolling, with the project described as being “in the vein of ’80s and ’90s action movies Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers.” You can check out the synopsis (via Deadline) below…

“When threats strike the heart of the homeland, American warriors rise with unbreakable grit and unrelenting firepower to defend what makes this country worth fighting for.”

The rest of the cast includes David Lucas (Kill Tony), JC Kilcoyne (Fix You), Tyler Aser (The Mystery Of Her), James Bingham (Swagger), Savanna Leigh James (The Bold and the Beautiful), Stephen Hailo (S.W.A.T.), Myles Clohessy (Frontier Crucible), Travis Mills (The Pendragon Cycle), and singer-songwriter Darby Cappillino, with Kyle Rankin writing and directing.

The action thriller role marks Majors‘ first role since the 2023 fallout, and is just one of three new action hero parts in the pipeline. Majors will lead the revenge thriller, Merciless, from director Martin Villeneuve, the younger brother of Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. While the title of the project raises questions about Majors’ PR strategy, Merciless “follows a top CIA interrogator who, after the woman he loves is overtaken by a malevolent force, is forced to go even darker to defeat it.”

Majors will also take the lead in True Threat as main character Venon Threat, who “embarks on a relentless quest for justice after his teenage son is murdered by a Harlem gang known as The Apollo Kids.” Influenced by the likes of The Raid, “Threat infiltrates The Carter, a towering 20-story project building that serves as the gang’s stronghold, battling his way to the top floor to confront their leader and his former mentor.” All of which suggests Majors’ controversial comeback will see him strive to become the new no-nonsense action hero favorite.
