Mike Flanagan is no stranger to working with the same actors across numerous projects, and his reboot of The Exorcist is looking to follow suit. The classic horror reboot is eyeing a March 2027 release, aiming to get the franchise back on track following the disappointing reception of The Exorcist: Believer in 2023. Flanagan is writing and directing the horror reboot, which has already assembled an impressive cast. Scarlett Johansson is said to lead the film, alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, John Leguizamo, Jacobi Jupe, and Sasha Calle.
As reported by Deadline, Flanagan’s Exorcist just got a super-sized casting update, with 11 new names joining the already stellar cast. These additions include Flanagan’s frequent collaborators, actors who have appeared in his previous productions, and whose inclusion signals the continuation of his trusted troupe. The 11 new stars joining the reboot are Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Gil Bellows, Carl Lumbly, Robert Longstreet, Matt Biedel, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, John Gallagher Jr., Benjamin Pajak, and Carla Gugino.
The new cast members are instantly recognizable to Flanagan fans, having appeared in many of the director’s films and TV shows, such as Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Midnight Club, Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, and The Life of Chuck. Siegel remains a welcome presence, with Linklater joining after his standout role in Midnight Mass. Gugino has become another familiar face in Flanagan’s work, notably featured in acclaimed Netflix series such as The Haunting of Hill House and Gerald’s Game.
