Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s brief stint as a guest host on The View has sparked some heated debates. She and Whoopi Goldberg recently got into it over ICE, with the topic at the forefront.
The immigration agency has been at the center of controversy this year. A pair of people in Minneapolis were killed in 2026, leading to protests in the area. One of them, Renee Nicole Good, was killed by ICE agents after being deemed to be a domestic terrorist by Donald Trump’s administration.
Whoopi and Elisabeth are miles apart politically
Whoopi and Elisabeth don’t see eye to eye on border control in the United States. The two clashed on that issue on Wednesday’s episode. Elisabeth says, “We need a strong border, especially now with our current global situation.” She adds that she doesn’t believe deep down that Whoopi is against ICE.
The Academy Award-winning actress pushed back, noting former President Joe Biden’s address to the nation during his term. Joe had said they have a good border that is bipartisan. Whoopi expressed her issue with immigration agents wearing masks. Elisabeth’s response was that Whoopi’s party was a “party of masks.”
Whoopi, like Elisabeth, has often shown a fiery personality and fired back on political topics. In February, Whoopi slammed the Trump administration’s release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. She took issue with the names of numerous sex trafficking victims shown in those documents.
Eventually, the debate shifted when Whoopi made it clear she was talking about ICE raids targeting people taking their kids to school. Elisabeth did admit that it was a fair point. Everyone on the panel agreed that no one wants to see anyone killed.
