National Trust properties, the Eden Project and Edinburgh Zoo feature amongst hundreds of attractions offering free or substantially discounted admission next week. The National Lottery’s Open Week makes a welcome return, offering Britons opportunities to discover heritage sites, fortresses and cultural institutions.
Participants in any National Lottery game can access unlimited Open Week venues between March 7 and March 15. The promotion applies to Lotto tickets, scratch cards and Instant Win Games alike. This year, the most affordable National Lottery game costs merely 25p.

This presents considerable savings potential, given the Eden Project typically charges adults £42 for admission, or £38 when booked ahead.
Culzean Castle, ordinarily priced at £8 for adults, features alongside Fountains Abbey and Kingston Lacy, both typically costing £23.10, reports the Mirror.
An additional advantage sees Open Week coinciding with Mother’s Day, with numerous venues maintaining their complimentary or reduced rates on Sunday, March 15.
Selected attractions offer special perks, including complimentary hot beverages and cakes at their cafés, discounts in shops and eateries, and half-price guided tours.
What is National Lottery Open Week?
The National Lottery states its Open Week is designed to reward its players. It explained: “To say thank you for the £32 million raised for Good Causes every week by players, National Lottery funded venues are offering free entry, discounts and special offers throughout National Lottery Open Week.”
The concept means that anyone visiting a National Lottery-supported project who presents a National Lottery ticket, Instant Win Game or scratch card can claim a special offer.
