British Airways drops key route from London Heathrow as it issues Dubai flights update | Travel News | Travel

British Airways will scrap flights from London Heathrow to Jeddah, but it is set to resume journeys to Dubai, Doha and Tel Aviv. The airline currently flies to the Saudi Arabian city from Heathrow Airport, but this will stop from April 24. It will also reduce the service from London to Riyadh to a single flight each day, down from two a day, when it resumes in mid-May.

BA suspended most flights to the Middle East after the Iran war erupted at the end of February and airspace in the region shut down. However, it’s now preparing to slowly resume some of its services, albeit on a much-reduced scale. Flights to Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv will make a comeback on July 1, all with just one per day each way.

Other destinations, such as Amman in Jordan and Bahrain, will not be serviced again until October 25, at the start of the winter season.

Flights to Bangalore will be doubled from June 1 to October 24, and an extra flight will operate to and from Mumbai for 19 days at the start of June.

Three extra services each week will also run from London to Delhi between mid-July and August 20, with larger aircraft assigned to the Indian capital and Hyderabad.

“We’re keeping the situation under constant review and are directly in touch with affected customers to offer them a range of options.

“Since the disruption began, we’ve helped thousands of customers return home, operated relief flights, and added additional capacity on key long‑haul routes. We will continue to assess and introduce further flying where possible.”
