Sold on SLC Season 1 Finale Recap

Sold on SLC is back via Episode 8, where the Presidio agents are wrapping up their retreat in St. George. Last week, Jennifer tried to bring her agents together, and, in some instances, her efforts paid off. However, things quickly took a nosedive after Matt and Kenny started turning on Malaysia. These boys believe Malaysia set Matt up at her Cinco de Mayo party.

Her friend Kiley acted alone, Malaysia insisted. Yet, her denials failed to stop Kenny from speaking to Tyna about this conspiracy theory. Thankfully, Tyna thinks this allegation is a bust. And yes, Tyna still had one foot out the door at Presidio, which Sarah and Malaysia understood.

As the inaugural season of this series concludes, let us now dive in and see if Jennifer ended this season on a high. Or not, hence this recap for the appropriately titled Sold on SLC Episode 8: “Thou Shalt Not Break Thy Broker.”

What happened in Sold on SLC Episode 8?

As the agents enjoy their final moments in St. George, Utah, peace enters the chat. But this brief respite fades during their final team dinner. As former hurts resurface, the ladies point out that they never received genuine apologies from Matt. But Matt still insists that he is innocent of being a gossip.

If you ask Matt, the ladies only are wrong. Thankfully, his lack of accountability has finally pissed off Jennifer. Still, Tyna must decide her fate at Presidio, but as Season 1 ends, we receive a shocking update on her choice.

The agents change into bathing suits, reaching for oils and lotions like Wendy Peffercorn. Jennifer is not swimming. But she does set up a nice bar for her calm(ish) agents to enjoy.

Sarah does her best to get Kenny to partake, though Kenny shuts her down. Flashbacks emerge, showing Sarah trying to convince Kenny to let his closely cropped hair(s) down this season. But Kenny remains strong, as, in his past, alcohol usage almost ruined his life.

After loading their lunch plates, Tyna tells Malaysia that Kenny suspects she set Matt up. This reveal pisses Malaysia off. She is innocent. Tyna believes her protestations.

The cameras cut to Christian, who lightens the mood by dropping his pants, revealing a thong speedo underneath. Jennifer does her part next using an upside-down pineapple-shaped pool float. But as they all joke about swinging, Christian starts speaking about his c*ck, sending his gathered audience members scattering away while laughing.

Later that night, the agents prepare for their final dinner. Once readied, Malaysia finds Kenny outside. As the music shifts, the smiling Malaysia tells an equally happy-looking Kenny that he can speak first. So Kenny does, telling Malaysia he is not trying to make any assumptions, yet he does feel like her Cinco De Mayo party felt weird.

Malaysia claps back, reminding Kenny that he did make an assumption, as he shared a set-up rumor about her with Tyna. Malaysia does not want her character questioned. Kenny insists this is not what he is doing. Instead, Kenny is questioning the timeline of how Kiley arrived on the scene to out Matt for his love of a good time.

Malaysia fills Kenny in on the details he lacks. In the background, Sarah is all of us, lurking behind a tall palm frond, trying to listen in. Grinning, Kenny makes eye contact with Sarah. Sarah laughs and walks away.

Once alone, Kenny reminds Malaysia that her many comments have landed poorly. But Malaysia notes that she only spoke up once, and it was to make a joke over a text thread about a stripper pole. One joke does not constitute a blanket statement like this, Malaysia argues.

Malaysia then reminds Kenny that he has been in her business all year. He even went to Jennifer about his suspicions over her return to Presidio. Malaysia is tired of having to defend herself with Kenny. But Kenny is not looking for her faults, he claims, as instead, he only wants to learn her truths.

Meanwhile, the other agents are roaming around outside enjoying pre-dinner drinks. Malaysia and Kenny join them. Jennifer calls her team to the table now that everyone is accounted for. Jennifer states in her confessional that this feels like her victory lap since her agents have come together during her retreat.

Bless her wrong heart.

In his confessional, Matt praises Jennifer for her efforts. He also stresses that this team needs to start removing their wedges with each other. He is correct, but can Matt offer a humble apology as well?

Malaysia turns towards Jennifer, who occupies the head seat at the table. Malaysia praises her positivity and humor, which makes Jennifer happy. Jennifer then tells a dirty joke via her confessional about a Ken doll coming in the wrong box. Back at the table, Jennifer admits that Tyna is the funniest, which, yes.

As Christian reapplies his lipgloss, Jennifer asks the table if they all feel secure at Presidio. Tyna speaks first, admitting she is no longer seeking out other brokerages. The table cheers over her statement.

Kenny has something to share as well. He reminds the table about the video he shot for his client, a luxury home builder in Utah. Sarah interjects, noting that his helicopter usage is reminiscent of a video Paige once shot. Tyna widens her eyes at Sarah as Kenny states yes, they both used helicopters, but his whirlybird spun a different tale.

But Sarah keeps her high-heeled foot on his neck, asking if his inspiration came from this already-shot video. Kenny admits that this is the case. Sarah asks him if his similar idea is why he is always nervous around Paige. As flashbacks show Kenny acting shy around Paige, Kenny shuts Sarah down, but both remain smiling, so, yay.

Jennifer steps in before things get tense, suggesting that the wheel of progress does not always need reinventing, but sometimes, it does. Kenny responds, stating that he tries not to reinvent every wheel. Jennifer reminds him this is what she said, but Kenny snaps, asking a peaceful Jennifer to “chill” so he can finish speaking.

Dear men. Zero women have ever calmed down when asked. Sure enough, all conversation halts, the music dramatically picks up, and the look Jennifer stares back at Kenny with is borderline lethal.

Still smiling, Kenny tells Sarah that she sucks. But Sarah stops smiling, reminding Kenny that he called her dumb earlier by the pool. Kenny denies this, changing the conversation by suggesting he never called Sarah a DUMP. Nice word change, Kenny, but sadly for you, Jennifer remains stuck on topic one.

Sarah loves the neutrality Jennifer is displaying. But, as Jennifer sarcastically answers, she remains calm because Kenny instructed her to. Yep. You are in trouble, Kenny.

“This is a great night,” Queen Tyna quips.

Matt shares that during their breathwork activity, he realized he needed to release his tensions with Tyna, Sarah, and Malaysia. But Malaysia shuts him down. She only feels sorry for his wife, Nicole.

Matt points at each woman, dubbing them “insatiable.” But this time, Jennifer sides with the females. Yet, Matt keeps speaking, which no one loves.

Tyna is thankful that Matt is “showing his true colors.” Malaysia jumps in, asking Matt why he and Nicole came for her so publically in the parking lot. Matt suggests Malaysia is seeing an untruthful reality. Tyna calls Matt a gaslighter, causing Matt to leave the table.

The next day, Jennifer feels broken. She texts her agents that she is leaving the trip early. Kenny responds first, apologizing. Malaysia calls Kenny a “kiss ass.”

Thirty minutes later, her agents board their party van and head home.

Back in Salt Lake City, Tyna tells Kenny that they all behaved like assholes. He agrees.

Across town, Jennifer tears up, realizing she picked the wrong friendship to uphold this season. Matt has not reached out to her to apologize, and his silence upsets her.

But Jennifer has one event to look forward to. Presidio moved offices, so Jennifer is throwing a party for her agents. As her decked-out agents arrive at their new space, Tyna reveals they are putting on a skit for Jennifer to help them apologize.

Matt decided not to participate.

Kenny, Sarah, Tyna, and Malaysia perform their skit. They also present Jennifer with flowers and an expensive gift, each profusely apologizing for their actions at the retreat.

Jennifer is touched. Later, Matt and Nicole also hand her a gift, but they fail to apologize.

Later, Jennifer tells Matt that their friendship has caused other agents to question Presidio. In his confessional, Matt states that Jennifer needs to put them, not him, in their place.

Jennifer tells Matt to own his part. Matt refuses. Jennifer now sees what her other agents see.

Malaysia confronts Nicole for publicly calling her out. Sarah joins, reminding Nicole that Matt said awful things about them without ever once apologizing. Nicole says Matt has tried to make amends, but as Sarah corrects, he has not.

Jennifer takes everyone outside for a celebratory drone show as updates air on each cast member, showing real estate gains for days. However, there was one loss. Tyna changed her mind. She now works at Sarah’s husband’s brokerage, as does Paige.

Sold on SLC is streaming on Peacock.
