DC‘s next Batman movie releases later this year, adding further to the Dark Knight’s considerable movie catalog. When it comes to the world of superheroes, there are few characters who have gotten quite as many films dedicated to them and their story as Batman, who has dominated the big and small screen for decades due to the protagonist’s undeniable and almost universal appeal.

As such, Knightfall is more important than ever – especially because it adapts one of the best and most lastingly impactful Batman comic arcs of all time.
As the name suggests, the two parts of Batman: Knightfall will adapt the Knightfall comic of the same name, which sees Batman face one of his most potent challenges in the form of the ultra-powerful and ultra-intelligent Bane, resulting in a clash that sees the Dark Knight forced to temporarily give up his hero mantle in order to heal.
Knightfall is rightfully famous to this day – and retains some of its legacy thanks to The Dark Knight Rises adapting elements of its story – so seeing it get the full animated movie treatment should be an exciting affair.
Batman: Knightfall Is The Perfect Movie To Tide Over Fans Before The Batman 2 & The DCU Batman Movie
Batman: Knightfall Part 1 and Part 2 adapting one of the most dramatic and action-packed stories in the Caped Crusader’s history means the time frame it’s set to release in should be particularly useful for DC.
Batman: Knight Part 1 can provide fans a Batman-focused movie story during a time wherein no other Batman-centered movies may otherwise release, keeping audiences satiated with a story of the iconic DC hero going up against certain doom and managing to defeat the odds with his intellect and sheer indomitable determination.
Given The Batman 2 seems set to once again be a release that focuses fairly on the detective side of Batman’s story – and The Brave & The Bold will likely have to balance establishing the DCU’s Batman and providing a nuanced take on the character – it also seems Batman: Knightfall Part 1 is particularly well-timed in terms of letting Batman movie fans get a full range of Batman stories by having a more high-octane sort of narrative.
As such, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about Batman: Knightfall Part 1 being on the near horizon. Hopefully, the animated version of the iconic Batman comic does full justice to the source material, and becomes a much-loved part of the wider Batman franchise and mythos, paving the way for even more full-scale adaptations.
