Bridgerton returned for the first part of its fourth season, which features the love story between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), and the first episodes of the season feature long-requested covers in the show’s signature style. Along with its provocative romances and steamy scenes, Bridgerton is known for its instrumental covers of modern music to set the tone in the Regency era.
As the popular Netflix hit enters its much-anticipated fourth season, the series is making sure it tackles an array of new music that will keep fans in the moment as the story plays out on screen. In the past, Bridgerton has featured instrumental orchestra covers of songs like Ariana Grande’s “Thank U Next”, Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood”, and Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy”, keeping the series cheeky.
Throughout the last few seasons of Bridgerton, there have been bigger and better covers, such as Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams”, which has led to viewers hopeful to see songs they’ve been longing for on screen. With many looking for specific songs to represent each Bridgerton sibling’s journey to finding true love, the covers in Bridgerton season 4 part 1 are an exciting mix.
Episode 1
“Life In Technicolor” By Coldplay, Covered By Vitamin String Quartet
In the first episode of Bridgerton season 4, part 1, Sophie’s arrival at the masquerade ball is underscored by a cover of Coldplay’s “Life In Technicolor” by Vitamin String Quartet. The group, which has covered several tracks for Bridgerton throughout its run, was able to bring a magical tone to the first moments that Benedict and Sophie interact, finding each other across the party.
“DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” By Usher Featuring Pitbull, Covered By Strings From Paris
The first episode sees the Bridgerton masquerade ball, hosted by Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), bringing together the ton in a fun new way, and the music at the ball sets the tone for sparks flying between Sophie and Benedict. Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love”, covered by Strings From Paris, is thematically perfect for the first dance of the evening.
“Never Let You Go” By Third Eye Blind, Covered By Vitamin String Quartet
In a scene that’s tonally different, Third Eye Blind’s “Never Let You Go” covered by Vitamin String Quartet was laid over a moment between Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), whose relationship is something Bridgerton viewers have come to adore. With the Queen forbidding Lady Danbury from leaving Mayfair as the song plays, Bridgerton’s team felt the tongue-in-cheek music moment worked.
Episode 2
“Enchanted” By Taylor Swift, Covered By Joseph William Morgan
Taylor Swift covers have long been a piece of the show’s puzzle, and Bridgerton season 4 episode 2 was the perfect moment to bring in a full orchestral cover of one of her most romantic songs, “Enchanted”. Playing over a scene where Sophie sees Benedict through a door back at Penwood House, “Enchanted” is able to encapsulate the yearning and desire that comes with their forbidden romance.
Episode 3
“All I Wanted” By Paramore, Covered By Vitamin String Quartet
In a scene that brings two big moments to the forefront, Vitamin String Quartet’s cover of Paramore’s “All I Wanted” allows big emotions to seep in. Featured in a scene that shows both Violet and Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) kissing for the first time along with Benedict and Sophie leaving My Cottage, the newly explored country house in the Bridgerton lore, the song heightens the emotional tension.
Episode 4
“Bad Idea, Right?” By Olivia Rodrigo, Covered By Caleb Chan
The final episode of the first part of Bridgerton season 4 features a huge moment where Benedict asks Sophie to be his mistress. Such a big moment requires a huge music cue, and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Bad Idea Right?”, covered by Caleb Chan, was able to help build a great sense of tension. On the nose, the new Bridgerton music moment will go down in history.
