One European country, rich with historic charm and delicious local cuisine, has £14 flights from the UK this month. The underrated getaway destination is perfect for a weekend escape and currently has significantly cheaper flights than countries like Spain and Portugal.

Flights from London to Luxembourg are currently as low as £14 over the next few weeks, with return flights costing as little as a total of £30 from London Stansted Airport.

Prices from other UK cities range, with Manchester to Luxembourg costing customers from £43 one-way and, from Liverpool, £47. One-way flights from Edinburgh to Luxembourg range from £42 to £93 this month.

Luxembourg is a small European country, surrounded by Belgium, France and Germany. Often overlooked, compared to its neighbours like France and Germany, Luxembourg offers tourists a fairytale holiday, away from crowds and queues.

Luxembourg City offers a variety of activities for tourists, from ice skating to walking along ‘Europe’s most beautiful balcony’ at the Chemin de la Corniche.

The city is known for its quaint narrow alleyways and gorgeous greenery and one of the city’s highlights is its Old Quarters, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.

One benefit of the country’s small size is that everything is within walking distance. The capital is only a 20-minute bus ride from Luxembourg Airport and Luxembourg City’s restaurants and cafés are generally all within close proximity to each other.

For those hoping to delve into the country’s rich history, the city’s top museums include Lëtzebuerg City Museum, Mudam Luxembourg Modern Art Museum and Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart, home to the archaeology, history and art of Luxembourg.

Other cities to visit in Luxembourg include Vianden, Müllerthal and Esch-sur-Alzette. Vianden is a fairytale destination, with its castle sitting on a small mountain above the small town while Müllerthal is ideal for those seeking the natural beauty of Luxembourg.

Müllerthal offers visitors the chance to wander through serene woodlands, with hiking trails passing canyons and caves.

Esch-sur-Alzette offers a completely different vibe, designated a European Capital of Culture in 2022 and renowned for its music venues, particularly for rock and pop music.

The country offers a variety of restaurants and cafés for newcomers to try. Some of the country’s top restaurants include Les Copains d’Abord in Luxembourg’s old town, Ville Haute, and Restaurant Clairefontaine, a high-end restaurant serving 4-course lunches and gourmet dinners.

While the country is generally on the more pricy side for tourist destinations, UK visitors can save this month with the affordable flight deals on offer.
