Will Ferrell wants someone new in power. The comedic actor recently spoke at a Women in Entertainment gala, making a bold plea. In what appeared to be a shot at President Donald Trump and the state of affairs in the US and perhaps around the world to, he called for a change in leadership.
While on stage, Will asked, “Isn’t it just time for women to run the planet?” His pitch was met with plenty of cheers and applause. In the previous election, Will appeared in a campaign ad for presidential candidate Kamala Harris days before the election.
Will Ferrell said men are “not doing so good”
Change is good in Will’s eyes, and he wouldn’t mind seeing a new face in power. During his speech, the Anchorman actor insisted that he wasn’t just trying to tell the audience what they wanted to hear. “I don’t know what else to do,” Will said. “We’ve been running the show since what, 10,000 BC, something like that, and we’re not doing so good,” he declared about men.
Due to how things are going, Will begged that women should just take over. In November, Will suffered an injury, delaying production of his upcoming Netflix series. While Will is best known for the comedy he has had his share of involvements in the political world. In February 2013, he endorsed Eric Garcetti for mayor of Los Angeles.
We may know him best for his portrayal of Republican George W. Bush in comedy sketches, but he’s actually a Democratic supporter. He supported Barack Obama’s successful run for President, meeting him and Michelle in 2011, the year before the former won a second term in office.
In American history, there have been two major party female candidates for President, Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. Both women were defeated by Donald Trump. Will’s upcoming Netflix series Golf will co-star his Saturday Night Live (SNL) colleague Molly Shannon.
