The latest trailer for the highly anticipated animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, reveals a whole host of new footage as well as glimpses at more of the various variants set to enter the fray when Miles Morales falls back into the madness of the multiverse. And, of course, this includes Spider-Cat. Check out the new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse below courtesy of Sony Pictures.
Alongside Spider-Cat and the rest of the Spider-Force, a vast array of variants that Miles will have to do battle with if he hopes to save his loved ones, the new footage also gives us a better look at D-list supervillain The Spot, who is expected to make waves in both Across the Spider-Verse and its follow-up, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
“Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” reads the official synopsis. “After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is seemingly swinging towards box office success, with the sequel projected to earn at least $85 million domestically within the first three days of release. More than double the $35.4 million brought in by its Oscar winning predecessor.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Will Feature a Vast Array of Variants
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is all set to be led once again by our main Spider-Man, Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, with the likes of Hailee Steinfeld returning as Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Woman alongside Jake Johnson as Peter B. The multitude of new variants includes Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart “Hobie” Brown aka Spider-Punk, Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar aka Spider-Man India, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly aka Scarlet Spider, a genetic clone of Peter Parker.
But that’s not all! Not by a long shot. The Spider-Verse sequel will also feature the likes of Takuya Yamashiro aka Spider-Man from the 1978 Japanese television series, Marvel Mangaverse Spider-Man, Otto Octavius aka Superior Spider-Man, Earth X Spider-Man, Margo Kess aka Spider-Byte, Cyborg Spider-Woman, Iron Spider, LEGO Spider-Man, Spider-Therapist, Spider-Cop, Spider-Mechanic, Spider-Monkey, Spider-Wolf, and many, many more.
The rest of the cast includes Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis, Miles’s father; Luna Lauren Vélez as Rio Morales, Miles’s mother; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Shea Whigham as George Stacy, Gwen’s father; and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ohnn aka The Spot, a D-list supervillain covered in interdimensional portals which allow him to travel the multiverse.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2023.
