Where the Real Housewives go, the drama follows. And it’s already happening for the new E! reality show The Golden Life. The series features The Real Housewives of New York OGs. Fans wondered why Bethenny Frankel was noticeably absent from the lineup, but the RHONY alum said she chose not to participate. Now, it’s being insinuated that she wasn’t actually asked to join them.

When The Golden Life was announced, fans were excited to see the return of their RHONY favorites. Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan are all confirmed. So why wasn’t Bethenny part of the cast, too?
The SkinnyGirl founder took to social media to share how happy she was for the girls and for the show. But she clarified that she wouldn’t be joining The Golden Life. She explained that she was really happy where she was and she’s been really busy protecting her peace.
However, according to a Substack by Rob Shuter called Naughty But Nice, Bethenny wasn’t offered a spot on the show at all. The post alleged that a TV executive shared that, “Bethenny loves to play the ‘I dumped them before they dumped me’ game. The truth? She was never asked.”
According to the source, the returning RHONY stars didn’t want to have to deal with the chaos of having Bethenny around. Plus, she is expensive. They also added that none of Bethenny’s shows since leaving RHONY have been hits. “She hasn’t delivered real ratings in years.”
To be fair to Bethenny, in her statement about her non-involvement in the show, she didn’t outright say they invited her. She said, “I’ve been approached about different shows. I haven’t really been that interested in anything because it would take time away from protecting my peace.”
So she could have meant other shows and not The Golden Life, even though it seemed that that’s what she was alluding to.
