Despite being one of the biggest action thriller hits for Netflix in recent years, details surrounding the third Extraction sequel, which will see Chris Hemsworth return as the elite mercenary Tyler Rake and was first announced back in 2023, have been oddly scarce. Thankfully, we finally have a little information regarding production on the action franchise follow-up, which teases both the setting and possible release window.

The first Extraction landed on Netflix back in 2020, and introduces Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a black ops mercenary with nothing to lose. Directed by Sam Hargrave, Extraction sees Hemsworth’s action hero tasked with saving an Indian drug lord’s kidnapped son, with last year’s sequel, Extraction 2, finding Rake rescuing the family of an abusive crime lord from a prison in Georgia.

Both director Sam Hargrave and Chris Hemsworth will return for Extraction 3, which is now expected to start filming later this year in June 2026 (via What’s on Netflix). According to the report, filming on the sequel is “expected to run through October 9th, 2026,” and will shift the action from globe-hopping locations such as India, Thailand, and Prague to Hemsworth’s native Australia. As well as production predominantly taking place in Sydney, the report also reveals whispers that filming will also take place in Europe.

More to come…
