Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal get hitched and pull off a heist in a new clip from director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action thriller, In the Grey. Following the recent trailer, we finally have some idea of what to expect from the highly anticipated action outing, which was initially scheduled to hit theaters back in January 2025. Now, following a series of post-production delays and a shift from Lionsgate to Black Bear Pictures, In the Grey is almost upon us.
The action thriller sees Guy Ritchie reunite with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare star Henry Cavill, alongside The Covenant lead and Academy Award-nominee Jake Gyllenhaal for this tale of a covert team of elite operatives tasked with carrying out an impossible multi-billion-dollar heist. Also starring The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’s Eiza Gonzalez, a new clip from In the Grey sees Bronco (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Sidney (Henry Cavill) brief their team of professionals as they plan their mission to infiltrate their target’s residence. A con that involves them pretending to be a married couple.
Rather than the grittier approach shown in the likes of Wrath of Man and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, this latest footage reveals that In the Grey will instead have The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre vibes. Ritchie’s familiar snappy dialogue and dry humor give way to pratfalls as both Cavill and Gyllenhaal use their shared charm to needle their way behind enemy lines.
In The Grey follows Gyllenhaal and Cavill’s elite crew, who have a penchant for living in the shadows. As comfortable wielding power and influence as they are with automatic weapons and high explosives, the group’s latest mission kick-starts when a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune. The team is tasked with stealing it back, but what begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception, and survival.
Promising explosive action, high-stakes danger, practical stunts, the combined talents of popular A-listers and action stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill, and all delivered with Guy Ritchie’s sense of sarcasm and wit, In the Grey is looking increasingly like the Sherlock Holmes director’s take on Ocean’s Eleven. Written and directed by Guy Ritchie, In the Grey features an all-star cast that includes Kristofer Hivju, Emmet J. Scanlan, Jason Wong, Michael Vu, Fisher Stevens, Rosamund Pike, and Carlos Bardem alongside Gyllenhaal, Cavill, and González, and has now finally been given a release date, with the action outing all set to hit theaters on May 15, 2026.
