Socialists shamelessly celebrate Cuba’s oppressors on a luxury tour

Some of the worst people in the world just swanned about Cuba on a first-class poverty tour, offering the repressive dictatorship PR cred while ordinary Cubans starve in the dark.

Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans, founders of Code Pink, were front and center on the Nuestra América “humanitarian aid” convoy, staying at a 5-star hotel (the only building with power) as they pretended to bring food and medicine to the suffering Cuban people.

The convoy leaders filmed themselves magnanimously handing supplies to Cuban officials — who surely directed the merchandise to the “special” US-dollar-denominated stores reserved for the Communist elite and other favored clients.

Code Pink volunteers sporting pink keffiyehs filmed themselves painting a “mural of humanity,” enthusiastically praising themselves for their “gift of love.”

Perched in the fancy hotel and wearing Cartier glasses, leading lefty podcaster Hasan Piker praised the “island mindset” of the Cuban people who are “partying in the street” and “chilling” despite having no electricity or food.

Chris Smalls, the Staten Island Amazon-warehouse-union organizer and veteran of the 2025 Gaza Freedom Flotilla, posted selfies of himself decked in heavy gold-and-diamond chains and a thick Versace medallion, surrounded by Cuban children.

Recall Smalls’ delusional boast to New York magazine in 2022: “I’m the savior now of everything.”

Also along for the ride: the Democratic Socialists of America, pro-Hamas-loving Irish band Kneecap and Jew-hating pinko British MP Jeremy Corbyn.

Of course every single idiot on this junket has been busy with “Free Palestine” activism since Oct. 7, 2023: Cuba, Palestine, Iran, climate change, Black Lives Matter — leftists ride a merry-go-round of anti-American causes, jumping from one to another as public attention flags.

But this affair takes the cake: Self-aggrandizing celebration on an island full of people immiserated by the very dictatorship the “progressive” tourists were celebrating.

Cuba barely has electricity these days; supplies of fresh water and food grow ever thinner; political repression, ever harsher — and this parade of fools luxuriates in the love of the oppressors.

Have they no sense of decency? Have they no shame?
