MONTREAL — Bill Christian waited a few days to call his grandson.
It was just a little too much to handle, he said. Bill Christian has a gold medal of his own, and he’s witnessed seemingly half his family represent Team USA at the Olympics. But his grandson, Brock Nelson, making the cut to wear the same uniform at the 4 Nations Face-Off hit him hard, in all the best ways.
When they finally connected, the conversation wasn’t too long. The grandparents offered congratulations and told Nelson how proud they were.
“We have a little bit of trouble talking about it, emotionally,” Christian told The Post last Friday, while waiting for Nelson to hit the ice for warmups in Winnipeg. “It just means a lot to us. Pretty emotional.”
