Chris Christie reveals Donald Trump’s thoughts on Ivanka and Jared Kushner
While speaking at Harvard on Monday, Chris Christie said that Trump was not happy with his daughter Ivanka’s relationship with Jared Kushner. The former New Jersey Governor revealed that Trump once asked him for intel on the Kushner family in an attempt to break up the couple’s wedding.
“It became clear to Donald Trump that they were going to get married,” Christie said. He went on to reveal, “He was not thrilled, let’s say, about this, and I was still the prosecutor at the time… He added, “He asked me to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Do you have anything more on the family, so I can break this up?’”
Christie was still the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey at the time Trump made this alleged request. The lawyer noted his prior involvement with the Kushner family, having negotiated a plea deal with Jared Kushner’s father. Charles Kushner, in 2005, pleaded guilty to tax evasion, witness tampering, and other charges.
Recalling his response to Trump’s request for dirt on the Kushners, Christie continued, “I thought to myself: ‘Haven’t I given you enough?’” He continued, “Her prospective father-in-law hired a hooker to seduce his own sister’s husband, videotape it, hold it, and then send it to her on the day of her son’s engagement party.
Christie added, “I looked at him like, not enough, huh, to say, ‘That might be a family I want to stay away from.’ But that’s Trump. When he gets himself worked into a lather, he will say and do anything to get what he wants.” Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have been married since 2009. The couple shares three children.
