Jennifer Siebel Newsom is wrong about Dems and women

California’s first lady, Jennifer Siebel-Newsom, recently accused President Donald Trump of engaging in a “war on all women.”

Though Democrats have recycled that slogan for a decade and-a-half, nothing could be further from the truth.

For starters, President Trump appointed more women to senior West Wing roles during his first administration than any other president in American history.

In 2016, he employed the first female campaign manager ever to win a presidential election, Kellyanne Conway. In his current term, Trump hired the first-ever female White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, who has even adopted flexible work schedules for young moms.

However, this debate is bigger than Trump. It is a perennial fight over a false narrative that could persist long after he is out of office.

It’s time to correct the record.

There is indeed a “war on women.” However, incontrovertible statistics show it is at the hands of the Democratic Party — not the Republican Party.

There are at least a dozen ways liberal policies harm women every day — starting with the most obvious: our livelihoods.

COVID-era lockdowns imposed by Democrat leaders in deep blue states erased roughly 2 million jobs held by women. Bureau of Labor Statistics data show California and New York — led by Gov. Gavin Newsom and then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo — drove the largest share of those losses.

With schools closed for nearly two years at the hands of local bureaucrats and at the urging of liberal teachers unions, many families made a practical decision: Mom stays home.

The result? The largest exodus of women from the workforce in American history and since the feminist movement began.

That alone should end the conversation about who values women. Yet there’s more.

The “defund the police” movement brought another cost — one paid disproportionately by women and girls. In Minneapolis, where the concept began with democrat Mayor Jacob Frey, assaults jumped 60% in the first year after the George Floyd incident. Rapes of women rose 22%. Domestic violence against black women surged.

In other cities like Austin, Texas, murders spiked 200% in a university town where 56% of students are young women.

When public safety collapses, women pay the price first.

And that’s before we consider the spike in criminal illegal migrants who flooded the U.S. during Democrat Party rule from 2021 to 2024, for which young women have also paid the price: Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, Sheridan Gorman, and many others.

It doesn’t stop at our borders, either.

From Hillary Clinton’s “Arab Spring” to President Joe Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, modern Democratic foreign policy has left women and girls in more dangerous, less free conditions.

As if that weren’t enough, there’s the Green New Deal — a sweeping proposal that would reshape everyday life. Championed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), it would rob women of “choice” more than any other public policy today.

It would eliminate choices as basic as what women drive, what they eat, even the kind of diapers they choose for their babies. It’s the very kind of control over women’s bodies for which they blast Republicans.

Even girls’ sports — once the crown jewel of the feminist movement — are being shattered by Democrats. Policies around transgender participation are fundamentally at odds with Title IX, the very law designed to protect female opportunities.

When fairness disappears, so do opportunities such as scholarships, future earnings from professional sports, and much more.

Finally, the real “war on women” that no Democrat wants to talk about: Library of Congress records show that for more than a century after the Civil War, Democrats voted not only to block black Americans from the ballot box, but women, too.

Republicans introduced the concept of women’s suffrage at a Republican Party convention. Just like the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, the 19th Amendment in favor of women voting moved forward despite Democrat opposition.

As for Siebel Newsom’s claim there is a “war on all women?”

Well, she’s right about that.

Perhaps she can tell fellow Democrats to call it off.
