Fast X First Social Reactions Praise Action & Jason Momoa’s Joker-Like Performance

Early reactions are in for Fast X, the latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, and they are praising the action and Jason Momoa’s performance. The film is the tenth installment in the action franchise and sees the past come back to haunt Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) when Dante Reyes (Momoa), the son of Fast Five‘s major villain Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), show up over a decade later to avenge his father’s death.

Several early Fast X reactions made their way to Twitter following the film’s Rome premiere and are largely positive, with nearly all of them singling out Momoa’s Joker-like performance and the action for praise. Most reactors also praised the action, calling it “stupidly entertaining,” though a few did mention that it wasn’t perfect and failed to add something new to the franchise. Check out some early reactions below:

What To Expect From Fast X Based On Early Reactions

These early reactions give viewers a little more insight into the film’s quality, as well as confirm some details they may have pulled from promotional materials. The first is that Momoa’s performance is worth the hype. Momoa’s entry into the Fast & Furious franchise was one of the most highly anticipated aspects of Fast X, as well as Brie Larson’s appearance. Momoa expressed nothing but excitement for the role, gushing about doing his own stunts for Fast X, while the trailer promised a wholly sadistic and unhinged Dante.

Additionally, it seems that Fast X will leave most viewers satisfied with its action. The stunts and action sequences are one of the most defining features of the Fast & Furious franchise. Every film tries to surpass the preceding film in how outrageous and ridiculous, yet oddly satisfying, it can make its stunts. The majority of reactors expressed satisfaction at the scale of insanity the action and stunts reached, though a few did complain of some “clunky elements” and the film’s failure to outdo previous films. This isn’t too concerning, though, as nine films is a lot to top.

One element that these reactors also mentioned is plot twists and a “divisive” ending. A Fast X sequel has already been confirmed, so some setup for the upcoming film is anticipated. However, the reactors’ wording suggests twists and surprises that go beyond setting up another film and perhaps extend to setting up a new direction for the franchise, with Diesel recently teased could be a Fast and Furious 12.
