Shoppers praise 44p-a-day solution for sleep problems

Shoppers are hailing a daily magnesium supplement as ‘life changing,’ claiming it has transformed their sleep and rescued their energy levels. As experts highlight that many of us are unknowingly living with a deficiency in this vital mineral, this affordable 44p-a-day ritual is becoming a go-to for those looking to quiet a ‘busy brain’ and support their overall wellbeing.

The Magic Magnesium Glycinate tablets from New Nordic are designed to provide this essential support without overcomplicating your routine. A tub of 180 tablets costs £39.99 (or around 44p per day with a subscribe-and-save discount), making it an accessible way to meet the daily requirements that so many of us are currently missing.

Magnesium may make up only a tiny fraction of the body, but experts say it plays a huge role in more than 300 processes, including brain function, mood, heart rhythm, and blood pressure. Kirsten Jackson, an IBS dietitian, told the BBC it is “especially important for our brain and mood,” helping nerve signals work properly and supporting brain cell structure.

Despite its importance, many of us may not be getting enough of it. The recommended daily amount is 270mg for women and 300mg for men. According to Denise M. Millstine, M.D., from the Mayo Clinic, those at the greatest risk of deficiency include women, older adults, and those who regularly consume alcohol or processed ‘convenience’ foods.

The New Nordic supplement uses magnesium bisglycinate, which is made by combining magnesium with the amino acid glycinate and is often chosen for its good absorption. Each daily dose provides 240mg of elemental magnesium, along with a blend of vitamins B and D and a herbal combination extract.

It also includes pine bark, which is said to support microcirculation and may help the body use magnesium. To get the most from it, the recommended dose is two tablets per day.

The glycinate tablets are just one option in New Nordic’s wider magnesium range, which includes formats such as citrate, malate, and taurate, as well as gummies and drinkable shots to suit different preferences. The brand is also set to launch in Boots stores later this month, giving shoppers another way to explore the collection.

Shoppers who don’t want or need extra vitamins and minerals with their supplement can pick up an alternative at Magnesium+ Gift, which costs £20 from Heights for a 30-day supply. Meanwhile, Healf’s Magnesium Glycinate is another standalone option and currently costs £22.34 for 90 capsules – although there’s a 10% subscribe-and-save offer, bringing it down to £20.11. The brand suggests taking ‘one to four capsules daily’.

Shoppers have been quick to share positive feedback for the New Nordic products, however. One five-star reviewer for the Magic Magnesium Glycinate explained: “Struggled to sleep for over 20 years, taking these has been life-changing. There are some occasions where I may wake up early, but not too often, but now most nights I go to sleep straight away.”

Another said: “After taking it for two months, I regained my energy, muscle function and even my sharp memory. It felt like I was giving my body a much-needed boost when I needed it most.”

While taking supplements twice a day might feel a little inconvenient for some, others say the added vitamins and ingredients let them cut down on the number of products they use.

One happy shopper explained: “Just a week into taking this product, and I feel so much better. Sleep has improved, plus with the blend of other ingredients, I can reduce my tablet intake. I would definitely recommend it.”
