If everything comes to fruition, the Star Wars franchise could have a huge few years ahead when it comes to video games. There are several major projects coming down the pipeline that really have got the fan base excited, with some entirely original releases, as well as others that take us back to some real high points of the past.

The most notable is probably Fate of the Old Republic, a hugely ambitious narrative-driven action RPG led by former Bioware director Casey Hudson. Outside of that, we also have Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which brings The Phantom Menace’s pod racing back in a big way, as well as Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse, and the Knights of the Old Republic Remake.

If those games all turn out as we hope, it’s going to be a brilliant few years, but if you’re looking for something to do in the meantime, there’s still plenty of fun to be had with the games we already have.

Over on the official Ubisoft website, you can find confirmation that the demo for Star Wars Outlaws is available on all platforms. Releasing back in 2024 from developer Massive Entertainment and publisher Ubisoft, it’s an open-world action-adventure game that really did do a great job of bringing the universe we all know and love to life once again.

Though it undoubtedly has its flaws in the gameplay department, it’s great fun to play through if you’re an existing fan, and the story rattles along quickly enough that it doesn’t get boring. The game features a mix of iconic existing worlds like Tatooine, alongside entirely new places to explore.

At the same time, you also get a very cute little companion called Nyx, who as well as being really nice to have around, also tangibly helps our protagonist to progress. If you do love Star Wars and haven’t given it a go yet, the demo should give you more than enough of a window into what the full version is like before you commit to a purchase.

In the meantime, we just have to sit tight as fans and wait for the flood of new Star Wars games to come in and hopefully deliver on all of their promise. Outlaws does take about 17–20 hours just for the main story, with closer to 60–70 hours for a full completionist run, meaning that if you do decide to go for it, it should take out a big chunk of that time spent waiting.
