Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay is capitalizing off of Scandoval in her own way by releasing a new song. Scheana has been on Vanderpump Rules from the beginning, and has extremely close ties with the cast. She is best friends with Ariana Madix, and has known Tom Sandoval for years. The “Good As Gold” singer became good friends with Raquel Leviss during her time on the show, and often stood up for her when the rest of the cast didn’t.
According to EW, Scheana just came out with her newest song “Apples,” collaborating with Kevin Franklin and Landis Daniels from a band called The 27s. The song throws shade at the entire Vanderpump Rules cheating scandal. Scheana posted the full two-minute song on her YouTube channel.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Scheana said, “I haven’t used music as an outlet to express my feelings in a really long time, so getting back into the studio and making this song with The 27s has been freeing and cathartic. Plus, the hook is a great way to teach your toddler how to spell APPLES.”
Scheana’s Song Lyrics Are Specifically About Raquel
The lyrics to “Apples” specifically allude to Scheana’s former friend Raquel, even though her name isn’t mentioned. “I was with you on your worst day / You stabbed me in the worst way / How you gonna lie to my face? / And you said that we would always be friends / Party on the weekend / But then you’re gone without a trace,” the lyrics read, obviously stating how Scheana felt betrayed by Raquel after Scandoval happened. Another verse says, “I thought you were grateful / I found out you’re fake, though / I hope there’s a place for friends like you.” Vanderpump Rules viewers who listen to the song would definitely see this as a dig toward Raquel.
After the Vanderpump Rules cast found out about Scandoval, Scheana seemed to be more affected than anyone realized. Scheana has known Tom and Ariana since they all worked at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant Villa Blanca together. When Ariana moved over to SUR, Scheana fully supported her, even when the other employees were spreading rumors about her being involved with Tom while he was still dating Kristen Doute. When Raquel came into the group through James Kennedy, Scheana took her under her wing and had her back when other people made fun of her.
In the Vanderpump Rules season 10 finale, Scheana had a tearful heart-to-heart with Tom, where she was able to show hurt she was by his secret affair with Raquel. She has chosen to cut Raquel out of her life, but has remained cordial with Tom while filming Vanderpump Rules season 11, despite rumors that they’ve made amends. Perhaps Scheana writing a new song is a way for her to do what she loves while getting her feelings out at the same time.
