28 Years Later and Kraven the Hunter star (the less said about that second one, the better) Aaron Taylor-Johnson takes the lead alongside The Gentlemen’s Theo James in an explosive new action thriller that’s now available to stream. Released in theaters back last month, the action outing bombed at the box office (a fact that becomes a little funnier when you find out the movie’s plot), but was met with solid reviews and has streaming smash hit written all over it.
Directed by David Mackenzie, who’s best known for helming Taylor Sheridan’s highest-rated movie, Hell or High Water, as well as the critically acclaimed Starred Up and Relay on the big screen, and Under the Banner of Heaven on the small screen, Fuze finds Aaron Taylor-Johnson starring alongside fellow James Bond favorite Theo James as a soldier and a thief, respectively, who find themselves caught up in a particularly explosive heist.
Dropping audiences in London, the action crime thriller begins when a massive bomb discovery forces a citywide evacuation. In steps bomb disposal commander Will Tranter (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who races to stop a catastrophic detonation. Meanwhile, above ground, criminal mastermind Karalis (Theo James) and his brutal partner ( Sam Worthington) use the lockdown to execute a precision bank heist. As chaos erupts, police chief Zuzana Greenfield ( Gugu Mbatha-Raw) battles to contain a city on edge, unaware she’s about to be thrust into a three-way war where every move accelerates toward an explosive showdown.
Despite a gripping plot and an assortment of familiar names, Fuze was a major box office flop. Against a reported budget of around $45 million, the action outing only accrued $4 million worldwide. However, this was not due to its quality, with Fuze being met with largely positive reviews. The crime thriller now stands at a solid 72% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside an even more impressive 78% from audiences on the Popcornmeter. The former praised Fuze’s unapologetic excess and stylish twists, while reactions from the latter hailed the movie as “really entertaining,” “awesome,” and a “Great crime caper” filled with “suspense and twists.”
Boasting pulpy thrills and the combined tension of Taylor-Johnson in the hurt locker and James attempting to get away with a dangerous heist, Fuze is sure to be a major crowd-pleaser on streaming thanks to its charismatic leads and white-knuckle action. Fuze is available to stream on Digital, and is due to land on Blu-ray & DVD on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, via Sony Pictures.
