Summer House’s Carl Radke Pays Tribute to Late Brother Curtis in Sweetest Way

Carl Radke is remembering his late brother. The Summer House star got to throw out the first pitch this month for a Chicago White Sox game. Carl’s brother Curtis was a great baseball player, according to him, who played both shortstop and pitcher.

Curtis died in 2020 after a lengthy battle with mental illness and addiction. Being back at a White Sox game has extra sentimental value for Carl. He talked about the struggles Curtis had and what it meant to be back for a game in the Windy City.

The Bravo star revealed a sweet story behind his first baseball pitch

Baseball and reality TV fans shared a special moment in Chicago this month. In anticipation of throwing out the first pitch, Carl displayed the back of his White Sox jersey, which had Curtis Radke ‘s name and number 12. Carl notes how he was born in Chicago, while Curtis was born in Indiana. “His (Curtis) first ever baseball game was a Chicago White Sox game,” said Carl. It was back in 1984 when the team played at Comiskey Park.

Along with the jersey, Carl brought his brother’s original glove. He says he threw the first pitch “in honor of my brother Curtis.” His brother’s story inspired him to try his best to help others dealing with mental issues and addiction. Carl believes this was an appropriate way to pay tribute to him at the game.

Following the death of Curtis, Carl partnered with Shatterproof to reduce the stigma of addiction. He adds that his brother’s death brought his family closer together. Raising awareness has become a big focus for Carl regarding both addiction and mental health.

While he’s doing his best to speak up about those issues, Carl has had similar problems in the past. Last year, he shared how he would drink all day and do “cocaine by myself” in the aftermath of his brother’s death.
